We discussed oil and gas bill with Kurdistan Region: Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – During a panel at the fifth al-Rafidain Center for Dialogue (RCD) in Baghdad, Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani on Tuesday said that they “have discussed the oil and gas bill with our brothers in the Kurdistan Region and have had more than one meeting in Erbil and Baghdad to discuss this issue.”
“The draft was prepared earlier. The brothers in the region asked us to discuss it item by item. Many of the main items have already been completed, but the discussions were halted due to several incidents," the minister said.
Ghani stated that the Oil Ministry had provided a draft to the federal government in accordance with the Iraqi constitution.
He also indicated that they had discussed the most important provisions of the draft, but that the discussions had been put on hold.
Kurdistan24 is one of the media sponsors of the fifth meeting of the RCD, which was held on Sunday under the slogan "Future of Mankind: Crises and Transformations."
The meeting will consist of eleven panels, most of which will be attended by senior officials of the Iraqi government, ministers, parliamentarians, and advisors, and it will last three days.
