Rafidain Bank warns its customers of "electronic fraud" and issues instructions to them

Rafidain Bank warns its customers of

8/16/2024

Rafidain Bank confirmed, on Friday, its keenness to educate its customers and the public about sound practices in using electronic services in general, and to direct the customer to take caution and care, to ward off the risks that may result from any attempts to access the customer's personal and financial information, through electronic fraud, telephone fraud, viruses and spyware, and identity theft.

In a statement today, Rafidain Bank recommended its customers to adhere to the following guidelines: Avoid easy knowledge of the password, keep it confidential, avoid using common and well-known passwords that are easy to guess, and change them periodically. The bank advised its customers - for their security and safety - to refrain from using known information such as date of birth, phone number, or any easily recognizable part of the customer's name as a password.

The bank’s statement urged customers to avoid disclosing their password and personal data, and to maintain the confidentiality of their salary card number (Master or Visa Card), Internet banking, and mobile banking application, and not to disclose them even to bank employees, stressing that the customer’s information and data, whether domiciled in his salary or otherwise, should be updated whenever there is a change through the branches.

The bank directed its customers to “continuously check your account movements (via account statement, movements in the phone application), and if you have any doubts about any of them, visit your branch or the Banking Awareness and Public Protection Department in the bank’s general management.”

The statement gave examples of fraudulent messages, "These messages are sent to you by someone impersonating an employee at the bank you deal with, who sends you messages asking you for information about your bank account or credit card under the pretext of verifying their numbers."

Fraud by tricking your account into browsing

The bank explained that many users were trapped on social networks through the trick of “Find out who browsed your Facebook account” or any other social network.

Prize Winning Messages

The bank noted that "such messages claim that you have won valuable prizes or a trip to a certain country, and the sender of the message asks you to pay a certain amount to receive your prize. Never do that."

Fundraising fraud

The statement stressed that "they collect money in a deceptive manner, as these fraudsters publish fake stories about a patient's need for treatment, a poor family, or others, and ask for donations from social media users."

Online job postings

The bank said, "If you apply for a job online, you will definitely be asked to fill out an application form. You can do that, but be careful not to write down your bank account number and credit card."

Tips to protect yourself from fraud attempts

The bank addressed customers, saying: Do not interact with people who ask you to pay a small amount of money to get a prize, gift, or other offers.

The statement continued, "You do not agree to transfer a conversation with a specific person outside of social networks, such as communicating via WhatsApp or providing that person's email address."

The bank called on customers to verify the identity of people who message them due to an emergency, claiming to be their friends or relatives, warning that messages that contain spelling and grammatical errors are always suspect and you should be careful of them.

The bank also said in its recommendations to customers and clients, "If you want to provide assistance or help, do so through official and trusted sources," stressing that "do not trust pages that represent large companies or public figures that you have not verified."

He also continued, "Do not trust any social media pages that claim to make you a quick profit through the Internet or working from home," stressing that "do not click on links that you receive via WhatsApp or social networks or those that are published in comments."

The bank urged customers to take precautions and be careful to avoid falling victim to criminal methods that aim to defraud citizens and steal their money by having people impersonate employees working in financial institutions, international institutions or private companies, and then do the following:

Communicating with customers via social media (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) under the pretext of providing financial assistance, prizes, or monthly salaries for a specific period, in exchange for obtaining the customer’s personal information, data and a picture of the bank card granted to him, the secret number, and the OTP verification code.

Use the data and information necessary to create accounts in the name of customers, modify their account data, update their data, or request the number that will be sent to you via SMS, and then carry out electronic transfer operations for the purposes of paying bills and purchases, charging mobile phone balances, or making electronic financial transfers to other persons.

Communicating with the beneficiaries of the money transfers under the pretext that they were executed in their favor by mistake, and then asking them to reverse the amount by transferring it to a specific account or charging a specific phone balance.

Q & A ABOUT REDEMPTION CENTERS WITH GINGER, PART. 1, 18 AUGUST

💢A conversation with a follower about Redemption Centers. Q & A - my response follows:

🔹Q: What redemption centers?

I keep hearing redemption centers but no info on them!!

How are we getting called to make appointments when we don't even know who and where they are!!

This extremely frustrating for your followers!

Please break this down for us!!!

If you can't, then stop discussing it as an option.

(The use of exclamation points is not to be missed, here. 😏) ⬆️

🔹A: First, respectfully, don't take that tone with me. Kapeesh? Just don't.

How long have you been following here?

A few days? A couple of weeks? How regularly do you check the channel?? BECAUSE I TEACH ON THIS STUFF ON THE REGULAR. I have teaching calls recorded for those new here to catch up on as well. I've got plenty of information that people can avail themselves to if you care to look and actually do some work. (Yes, I understand that *scrolling* can be very tedious for some.) Pardon the sarcasm but I just don't take kindly to a pissy tone. Most people don't, ya know - so you might want to keep that in mind. 😏

I've posted how to request notification at least 50+ times 🤦 ::::deep sigh::::

You don't and won't know where they are until after the RV happens when it's time to set up your appointment. You'll be given a phone number to call to a redemption center closest to you.

Some top Tier banks will have a private client office (upstairs) away from prying eyes of other clients / other employees which has been set up as a RC where speculators in this event can redeem Zim and exchange their foreign currency with increased anonymity.

There will also likely, plausibly, be a Redemption Center office area located on some military bases, which is beneficial for heightened security to keep the speculators safe.

These are kept secret for the time being and not to be disclosed (yet), plus there are at least 7000 + RC in just the USA alone - so no, I'm not going to tell my followers the locations, as your comment suggests it's my obligation to do so. Give me a break. 🤦 You can count on major Top Tier 1 & 2 banks having an internal RC private client office area set up for security, and obviously, that will be in every major city, plus other good-sized cities. Those who live in small towns or rural areas may have to drive about 50 to 80 miles to reach a Redemption Center closest to them.

Please, going forward, when asking questions on this channel, please have some decorum and polite civility. I work tirelessly to support the family here, more hours a day then you could even fathom, on top of working my full-time job. Be kind. Show some respect, please. Avail yourself to the gobs of resources and teaching material I've provided. Everything I typed above, I've said before - in teaching posts and in recorded calls that have been archived for easier access.

Iraq's Economic Outlook 2024: IMF Insights

Government Advisor discusses feasibility of using Dinar instead of Dollar for oil sales, 18 AUGUST

 Baghdad - INA

Government financial advisor Midhar Mohammed Saleh examined on Sunday, the feasibility of replacing the dollar with the dinar for oil transactions. He noted that implementing the "petro-dinar" concept is complex, requiring significant foreign reserves or gold, similar to Russia's approach with the ruble.

In an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Saleh emphasized that "adequate foreign reserves are crucial to stabilize the dinar’s exchange rate against oil prices, aiming to mitigate fluctuations."
He cautioned that directly linking oil sales to the dinar could introduce volatility, impacting its stability due to global oil price movements.

Saleh referenced Russia's challenges with pricing oil in rubles, a non-reserve currency, highlighting the difficulties posed by the dual influence of oil and gold asset cycles. He pointed out that adopting the petro-dinar would face similar obstacles, including the need for global market acceptance and robust financial infrastructure.

Additionally, Saleh discussed the "Law of One Price," which posits that identical goods should be priced uniformly in different markets when expressed in the same currency, assuming no trade barriers. For the petro-dinar to be viable, it must maintain a stable exchange rate aligned with global oil prices.

In summary, Saleh warned that relying solely on the petro-dinar amidst oil market volatility involves significant risks and uncertainties. The dinar’s stability would hinge on broader economic conditions and effective currency management, necessitating careful evaluation of these compLexities.

LATEST FROM BREITLING, 18 AUGUST

BREITLING

Question: “I feel the RV will happen perhaps in a few months rather than years.  Do you  anticipate the exchange rate will be close to the same no matter which bank or exchange entity?”

Answer: The rate is the rate.  If a bank charges a percentage to exchange that’s on the bank.  You’re going to have to shop.  No body knows...There’s no way to know what  banks will charge to exchange but I’m pretty sure they’ll be competitive.

What would happen if they did what Turkey did, they shifted their currency, they re-denominated, added value to it and tried to recreate the markets to get more customers and it doesn't work?  There's no place to  go.  It would be too tough.  Then they would really be dependent on the US dollar and then they would have no power over their own  economy.  That's what's at stake for Iraq.  They are in trouble.  They are in deep trouble...

Breitling

The key for Iraq - For them not to be dependent on the dollar.  If the economy is 100% energy then they're going to be 100% dependent on the US dollar.

How do they get their currency outside of that

They have to open up to doing business in completely different sectors... Then they can attach that part of the economy to the Iraqi dinar.  And they can add value to the dinar as they see fit.  That's always been the underlying goal of what we want Iraq to do...

Breitling

I've gotten the weirdest hate mail with a capital H.  You people need to just suck it up.  I don't care if it's not what you want to hear...I'm just reporting what the policy in Iraq is and whether it's pushing our speculation forward or not.  That's all it is.  Nothing more than that.

Breitling

I beg you.  Do not turn this investment into a religion and do not hide from facts...People that do that always have financial problems...You have to watch policy.

Breitling

[Iraq's] policy has changed for the very first time since we've been in this...speculation together.  The policy is going to change on either side of the aisle...Iraq is going to be punished if they keep moving forward here [moving more and more pro-Iranian].  That's not good.  That's not positive for us.

The Untied States is trying to influence [Iraq] to do the right thing.  Hopefully they will do it and everything will be hunky-dory.  Well the reality is IMO if the CBI had that influence it would have been done already.  That's the problem.  That's why I'm in the neutral zone.  It sucks because I put my heart and soul into this.  Don't think for a minute I don't feel it because I do...This could mess up the timeline and push it back, maybe even permanently if Iraq can't handle these financial problems.
