 There's more than just paying attention to what's going on in Iraq.  When your own country is trying to provoke World War III it makes it a little hard to focus on whether or not the Iraqi dinar is going to revalue...

You've got Iran bombing Israel.  We're just waiting for Israel to retaliate.  That's just going to provoke things even further along.

  [In a LOP]  The only thing that changes is the bank notes themselves...You're not changing the value of the currency.  A 25,000 dinar is going to have value as a 25 dinar.  They're just going to lop the zeros off.  Debt is still going to be the same, your paycheck is still going to be the same.  The only difference is when you go to cash your check, the dollars [dinars?] they give you back are going to look different if they lop off the zeros.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, received at his residence in the US capital, Washington, on Tuesday evening (Baghdad time), and at a working lunch, a number of members of the American House of Representatives from the two parties; the Republican and the Democrat, and in the presence of a number of members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives within the delegation accompanying his Excellency on his official visit.

His Mredenty talked about the objectives of the visit, stressing the importance of moving the relationship between Iraq and the United States to the level of comprehensive bilateral relations in various fields of exchange and development, indicating that the reasons on which the international coalition was built to fight ISIS ten years ago no longer exist, and that the capabilities of the Iraqi security forces have evolved to defeat the terrorist threat of ISIS.

Mr. Al-Sudan explained that Iraq is committed to the outputs of the ongoing dialogue within the Supreme Military Committee between the two countries, while continuing to partner with the international community to confront terrorism, stressing that the Iraqi people are one of the most peoples in the world that bravely faced the evils of terrorism and its gangs.

His Mintrence pointed to the form of the sustainable relationship that Iraq seeks with the United States, as it depends on the size of convergence and common understanding between the Iraqi and American peoples, beyond the borders of governments and administrations, and in light of the unique position that Iraq has in the region through diversity in components and spectrums, and the democratic constitutional order that includes the peaceful transfer of power, in a way that enhances the unity of the country and respect for all freedoms.

Mr. Al-Sudan indicated that one of the strength factors for Iraq, today, is the association with historical and social relations and joints with neighboring countries, including Iran, and at the same time, having an important strategic relationship with the United States, as well as possessing resources and an important location that enables the establishment of a vital economic position for the interests of the peoples of the region, development opportunities and strategic projects that enhance security, stability and prosperity.

For their part, the members of the US House of Representatives welcomed his visit, stressing the aspiration to build a constructive and sustainable partnership that enhances friendship between the Iraqi and American peoples, reiterating their support for everything that consolidates the development in Iraq, the stability of the region and peace efforts.

The United States will NOT... repeat WILL NOT....be leaving Iraq now or in the future. The power vacuum WILL be filled by Iran and only a fool would want the US to leave IRAQ!

Iraq is worth far more than 16 trillion dollars and there is far less than 80 trillion in circulation...To espouse such inciting commentary [against this]...negates everything Dr. Shabibi has stated and everything the CBI and GOI have stated. The Dinar was worth $3.22 pre-sanctions and at that time all they had was oil at $32 dollars a barrel...

   Article quote: "Al-Kadhimi indicated that increasing the budget’s overall amount, from 199 trillion Iraqi dinars (nearly $152 billion) to 228 trillion Iraqi dinars (approximately $174.04 billion), resulted in a rise in the deficit, revealing that the budget is still being discussed in the Council of Ministers and would likely be presented to the Iraqi Parliament next month."   It would logically follow that a revaluation would be likely before next month's USA confab.

The notion of revenue-sharing is nothing new in the Middle East.  Bruni and Kuwait both do it...Revenue Watch Middle East Director Yahia Said recently returned from several months in Iraq working on the International Compact with the UN...This USIPeace Briefing summarizes the discussion.   Many Iraqi citizens look to the law for what it can contribute to reconciliation, security, and welfare. The three parts of the agreement will deal with the issues of 1) revenue sharing; 2) restructuring of the ministry of oil; and 3) establishing the Iraqi National Oil Company (INOC). 

  It is quite clear that the HCL has intentions to codify the issue of welfare (not for government) and the number 1 issue is REVENUE SHARING.  To be more specific; Section 1314 of the FY2007 Supplemental Appropriations Act [P.L.110-28] specifically identified the enactment and implementation of legislation  “to ensure the equitabledistribution of hydrocarbon resources of the people of Iraq without regard to the sect or ethnicity of recipients” and “to ensure that the energy resources of Iraq benefit Sunni Arabs, Shia Arabs, Kurds, and other Iraqi citizens in an equitable manner” as benchmarks .

Parliamentary Finance Calls for ‘Dinar to Be Confined to the State’

Shafaq News / The Parliamentary Finance Committee on Wednesday pointed out the problem of the lack of cash “Iraqi dinar,” calling for “confining the dinar to the hands of the state.”

Committee member Hussein Mounis told Shafaq News, “The House of Representatives voted on the tripartite budget law and required the government to send the tables for approval,” noting that “the delay in sending the tables to parliament did not affect the operational budget.”

He pointed out that “there is no specific date for approving budget schedules in the Council of Ministers and sending them to the House of Representatives,” pointing to “a real problem of the lack of cash (Iraqi dinar).”

He pointed out that “the Parliamentary Finance Committee is working to develop certain ways to process and provide cash and limit it to the country by adopting the electronic card, strengthening the work of banks and putting forward documents to achieve a cash survance in the market.”

“There is no confidence between the banking system and the citizen and the lack of confidence caused the currency (Iraqi dinar) to be stored in the homes of citizens, which caused it to be lost and not available naturally in the market,” Mouninis concluded.

On March 27, 2024, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moen Kazmi, said that the Iraqi government raised the total amount of the budget law from 199 trillion dinars to 228 trillion dinars in the 2024 budget.

While a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mustafa Al-Karawi, said in an interview with Shafaq News Agency on February 27, 2024, that the Minister of Finance Taif Sami informed the members of the committee during its hosting, yesterday, Monday, that the budget law schedules were sent to the House of Representatives.

  We know Sudani right now is traveling all over the US.   We know people are positioning …and everything coming together is to me – very important.  I originally thought Sudani was going to do it before he came to the US….but now that I know the bond schedules - it makes more sense to me that they do it when he gets back to Iraq, I cannot imagine him not wanting to be in country for it.

 ...The group leaders I know Are under a “blackout” and will not share. I think this is a very good sign. ... We need at least a third to a half of historic bonds paid before we go. So my logical mind is saying the 22nd is the soonest we could see something. I could be wrong and it could absolutely go anytime…even in the next 2 minutes and it would not surprise me.
