A high-level Iraqi diplomacy revelation, the agenda of the Arab summit scheduled for the capital Baghdad in the middle of next month.
The Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt, Qahtan Al-Janabi, said in a press statement that “the most important of these items that will be discussed are an item on the Arab summit to be held in Baghdad in the middle of next month, and the preparations established by the Iraqi government to receive Arab leaders.” He pointed out that “Iraq is fully prepared to receive the delegations participating in the regular and developmental summits. “
Al-Janabi added that the work of the summit will start on the 12th of next month with a meeting of senior officials in the Arab Economic and Social Council, and the meeting of Arab ministers of trade and economy will be the next day, after which a meeting of permanent representatives will be held, then the Arab foreign ministers, and a day will be allocated to receive Arab leaders, so that they will meet on May 17 in Baghdad, to approve the items of the summit, with speeches to all Arab countries, and then the Baghdad Declaration will be historic in the harsh circumstances of our Arab homeland.
The agenda of the current session includes several main items, including a number of political, economic, social, legal, financial and administrative issues, most notably the item of joint Arab action, and includes the report of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States between the sessions (162) and (163), and the draft agenda of the ordinary Arab Summit at its 34th session, to be held in Baghdad on the 17th of next month.
The draft agenda also includes an item on the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict. This item includes several headings, including following up on political developments of the Palestinian cause and the Arab-Israeli conflict, activating the Arab Peace Initiative, Israeli developments and violations in the occupied city of Jerusalem, supporting the budget of the State of Palestine and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, Arab water security and the theft of water by Israel in the occupied Arab territories, and the occupied Syrian Arab Golan.
The meeting also discusses a number of permanent items related to Arab affairs and national security, including developments in Libya, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia, solidarity with Lebanon and developments in Syria
