Talabani receives a senior American official to discuss four urgent file
The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Pavel Jalal Talabani, received in Sulaymaniyah today, Thursday, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Victoria Taylor, and her accompanying delegation. According to Talabani's office,
during the meeting, the situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and the need to protect stability in the region were discussed.
During the meeting, Talabani stressed his party's commitment to protecting and defending the rights and interests of our people, pointing to the continuation of efforts to form a government of fair services, based on equality and true partnership, stressing the importance of serving the citizen away from conflicts, and moving the Kurdistan Region towards more reconstruction and stability.
Regarding the existing disputes between Erbil and Baghdad and the issue of salaries and the region’s financial entitlements, Talabani explained the importance of adhering to the decisions of the Federal Court and reaching radical solutions to the problem, indicating that the current situation cannot remain in place and that the citizen’s livelihood should not be subject to conflicts, and we have previously conveyed this message to all parties.
In another aspect of the meeting, the two sides discussed the Syrian scene and Rojava, where Talabani pointed out the efforts to protect the rights of the Syrian components and the necessity of resorting to understanding and dialogue, especially with the Kurds who have made many sacrifices in order to protect peace and stability.
Talabani stressed that the unity of Kurdish discourse and ranks in Syria was an important focus of our efforts, and we strove hard to deal with the two files with a joint strategy, and fortunately we succeeded in that and things will become clear in the coming days.
In another aspect of the meeting, the two parties discussed the energy file, as Talabani stressed the failure of the way the file was dealt with, so we seek to manage it according to a modern strategy that contributes to the development and reconstruction of our country, expressing his hope to reach a joint agreement with Baghdad.
