The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Federal Government have agreed to amend the Federal Budget Law to allow the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, halted since March 2023.
According to Iraqi-Kurdish lawmaker Srwa Muhammed, the amendment requires the KRG to export its oil through the Iraqi State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO), with revenues deposited into the Iraqi treasury.
