U.S. State Department: We Will Support Iraq and Jordan against Any Threats from Syria

The U.S. State Department affirmed that the United States will support both Iraq and Jordan against any threats that may arise from Syria during this important period of transition.
In a statement, the U.S. State Department said, "We will support Jordan and Iraq against any threats that may come from Syria," stressing that "we will not allow ISIS to exploit the current situation to launch terrorist attacks."
The statement added, "We have been in contact in recent days with groups in Syria, sometimes through intermediaries," noting that "there is no change in our policy towards the Syrian Democratic Forces, which remain an important partner in the fight against ISIS."
