 Amendment of Article 12 on Kurdistan Oil without objection

MP for the State of Law parliamentary bloc, Firas Al-Maslamawi, confirmed that “the government’s request to parliament to amend Article 12 regarding the Kurdistan Region’s oil and to include it in the region’s share in the three-year budget will proceed during the next legislative session without any objection.”

Al-Maslamawi attributed the reason in a statement he read (Al-Masry - Thursday) to the existence of understandings between the central and regional governments as a result of long discussions that took place between the two sides by specialized committees.

According to him, “the amendment will ensure, for the first time, that the federal government will have control over the region’s oil, and it will also be a positive step in legislating the oil and gas law.”

He pointed out that "for the first time, the regional government handed over to the federal government the revenues of the border crossings located within the region," according to his expression.
