The Prime Minister takes the first official step regarding the American presence in the country, 6 JAN
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced the formation of a bilateral committee to schedule the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq.
Al-Sudani clarified on Friday that no party has the right to infringe on Iraq’s sovereignty.
Iraq escalated its official and political positions against the international coalition and American forces in the country, after the attack that yesterday, Thursday, targeted the headquarters of the Nujaba Movement in Baghdad, and resulted in the killing of the faction’s special operations commander, whom Washington accuses of carrying out attacks against military bases in Iraq and Syria.
Demands to end the American military presence in Iraq were strengthened, as the Armed Forces spokesman, Major General Yahya Rasoul, said in a rare description that the attack was an attack similar to terrorist acts, and held the international coalition responsible for the strike.
It is known that America deployed 2,500 soldiers in Iraq and about 900 in Syria within the framework of the so-called international coalition to combat ISIS, the formation of which was announced in 2014
