 FOREIGN MINISTER: IRAQ HAS NOW BECOME MORE STABLE

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, confirmed today, Friday, that Iraq has now become more stable, pointing to the success of the provincial council elections.

A statement from the ministry, a copy of which was received by NRT Arabic, said: “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, and his accompanying delegation met with Dutch Foreign Minister Hanke Probens Salwa, at the headquarters of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

The statement added, “At the beginning of the meeting, Salwa welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister, and pointed out the importance of the meeting in light of the ongoing escalation in Gaza and the Middle East.”

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed, according to the statement, that Iraq has now become more stable, pointing to “the success of the provincial council elections in Iraq that took place recently, calling on the Netherlands to participate in a greater role in Iraq, especially in the areas of water and agriculture.”

He stressed, “Iraq seeks to spare the Palestinian people all the tragedies to which they are exposed as a result of the Zionist aggression against Palestinian cities.”

For her part, the Dutch Foreign Minister stressed “the importance of her country’s broader participation in the projects implemented by Iraq.”
