💵 RATE UPDATE (Yes, We Asked!)
No, I was NOT told the exact in-country rate, but it will be just over $1. That’s the word. We’re now waiting for the education phase to roll out soon — whatever “shortly” means in Iraq-speak… 😤
🧠 CBI must inform the citizens about the process: how to exchange, timelines, and use of new notes.

📅 A DEADLINE is still planned to turn in the three-zero notes — this hasn’t changed. After that, they’ll still be valid BUT:
🔒 ATMs will no longer accept them
🏦 Banks will need CBI permission to process them, on a  case-by-case basis

🧾 The large notes will still be used in interbanking for large transactions, but most will be inventoried and then burned.
✅ New scanners are ready — just not yet delivered to banks
💳 ATMs already have the built-in legal tender validators installed — this was set up 

years ago!

The Iraqi Private Banks Association just announced that the comprehensive banking reform plan has reached its final form. Let me repeat that — FINAL FORM.

That means the reform blueprint is no longer in draft or debate — it's complete, and it's going to apply to all private banks in Iraq — no exceptions.

✅ Here’s What the Plan Includes:

🔸 Part 1: Public Banks
🔸 Part 2: Private Banks — and this is where it gets interesting.

📊 The reform for private banks is built on 4 critical axes:

  1. Governance, capital, and ownership structure

  2. Business plans and banking products — including ATMs, branch expansion, and financial services

  3. Risk and compliance — with a heavy focus on anti-money laundering

  4. Financial statements — strict adherence to key financial ratios and international norms

🟢 UPDATE FROM IRAQ CALL – VERY RECENT!
Just this week I received an extremely detailed call from Iraq, one of the longest yet! 🧾 Meetings are now underway with the US Treasury and the Central Bank of Iraq to finalize the currency swap-out process.

⚠️ Caution remains: Iraq has had false starts before, so while this is exciting news, we must stay grounded. They are keeping things very quiet, but I was assured more articles are coming. 🙏 Let’s all pray this time they follow through — for the people of Iraq and for all of us.

📆 THE TARGET: Complete the swap before December
✅ With an eye on January 2026 for reinstatement
🟢 We MUST see Iraq’s full accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO)

 in the coming months — this will be a trigger point for the process and major announcements.

💰 Lower Denoms Are READY!
I was told there is more than enough of the new lower denominations, including coins (fils). Digital banking will lessen the need for physical cash, and ATMs will handle the old 3-zero notes

, converting them into digital account balances. This will streamline the process, making it convenient and modern.

🔁 Iraq is now reversing the 2004 swap — this time replacing the 3-zero notes with new lower denoms, new designs, and no Saddam Hussein faces... lol 😊
➡️ All of this is connected to controlling the parallel market and ending reliance on currency auctions via correspondent banks.

🔄 Yes — this is all setting the stage for the move to a revalued currency. A country can’t move to a normalized international rate with a broken banking system. This is why the reform project matters.

🎯 What’s Next (2025–2028)?
The article lays out six clear objectives, all designed to bring Iraq's banks in line with international standards:

  1. ✅ Upgrade compliance with global banking/accounting standards.

  2. ✅ Build a sound, flexible, modern banking system.

  3. ✅ Boost confidence and transparency — locally & globally.
