Iraq is on the rise economically and trade with Arab countries is growing.
5/13/2025
Regarding Iraq's economic role, Hanoun explained, "Iraq's economic role in the region and the world has begun to grow and expand, ranking 51st globally and fourth in the Arab world on the list of the world's largest economies for 2025, according to a report issued by the American magazine "CEOWorld."
Hanoun emphasized that the $17 billion "Development Road" project aims to make Iraq a regional transportation hub by linking its southern hinterland to the Turkish border in the north, thus strengthening its role as an economic hub in the region. He emphasized that Iraq's move is to strengthen its economic standing by developing trade relations with Arab countries, reviewing all previous agreements, and implementing strategic projects aimed at diversifying its economy and reducing its dependence on oil.
He added, "Iraq's commitment to hosting the Arab Summit reflects its commitment to leading Arab efforts toward economic and development integration, having called for the establishment of an Arab economic bloc that would invest in the human and geographic resources of Arab countries, with the goal of achieving effective economic integration, creating job opportunities, and achieving social justice."
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Trade confirmed that "Iraq seeks, through hosting the Arab Summit, to focus on food security and sustainable development, develop an Arab food security strategy, and support initiatives related to artificial intelligence, energy, water, and education, with the goal of achieving sustainable development in the region."
Iraq had proposed in previous meetings the establishment of an Arab Council comprising trade ministers under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, to enhance coordination and integration in trade policies among member states.

Agriculture and residential fields - that all take really big money to build that. That's comes back to the budget.
They're not going to be able to build industrial refineries and stuff like that at 1310.
They've never done it before why are they going to do it today? They're not. It'd be just like suicide. Think about it, if you have a real effective exchange rate and the dinar is much stronger than the dollar it becomes far cheaper to build this out.

Media: Khamenei approves a "partial freeze" on uranium enrichment
5/13/2025
Sources revealed that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has given the green light to the Iranian negotiating delegation with the United States to agree to a partial freeze on uranium enrichment, if the negotiations so require.
This information, reported by Sky News, came after a fourth round of talks between Iran and the United States regarding the nuclear program .
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Sunday that his country would not give up its right to enrich uranium .
He stated that "enrichment capacity is one of the prides and achievements of the Iranian nation, and it is non-negotiable ."
Washington and Tehran held a fourth round of talks in Oman on Sunday, aiming to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions .
US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff previously hinted at US flexibility regarding Iran's continued enrichment of uranium to levels intended exclusively for peaceful civilian uses .
But Witkoff stressed, in a media interview on Friday, that uranium enrichment is a "red line" for the United States .
Western countries, including the United States, have long accused Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons, a claim denied by Tehran, which asserts its right to nuclear technology and that its program is exclusively peaceful .
Asked Wednesday whether Iran would retain the ability to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, Trump said the issue remains open.

MORNING UPDATE : Iraq is no longer hinting
MORNING UPDATE
Iraq is no longer hinting. Sudani just said the quiet part out loud.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani held a major meeting with the heads of all Iraqi banks. The takeaway?
“The state will act as a regulator, not a controller.”
That’s your signal.
This is the exact language used by nations preparing for a monetary shift and here’s why it matters:
•Iraq is stepping back from centralized control of the banking sector
•The banking system is now “flexible, modern, and ready,” per Sudani
•First Rafidain Bank is launching with a new vision + foreign partnerships
•The government confirmed it’s absorbing excess IQD and replacing it with domestic production + foreign investment
•Banks are being told to invest, simplify, and prepare for global trust
This isn’t speculation, this is pre-RV protocol in plain sight.
They’re lining up the IMF, World Bank, Basel III, ISO 20022, and private sector cooperation. The only piece left?
What follows is going to be historic.
