The first drop of rain... China calls on the US to "completely cancel" tariffs

4/13/2025

China called on the United States on Sunday to "completely eliminate" mutual tariffs, following President Donald Trump's decision to exempt high-tech goods from them.

"We urge the US to take a major step to correct its mistakes, completely abolish the wrong practice of imposing tit-for-tat tariffs, and return to the right track of mutual respect," a Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson said in a statement.

Amid a trade war with China that has caused confusion in financial markets, the United States reversed its stance last Friday, deciding to exempt smartphones and computers from additional tariffs imposed by Donald Trump.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce described the measure on Sunday as a "small step," noting that it was "evaluating its impact."

The exemptions, published late Friday in a notice from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, cover various electronic goods, including smartphones and components entering the United States from China, which are currently subject to an additional 145% tariff.

This decision is particularly beneficial for tech giants like Apple, which manufactures the iPhone and other flagship products in China.

Beijing responded to Trump on Friday by increasing tariffs on all US products to 125%, effective Saturday.

TIDBIT FROM MILITIAMAN, 15 APRIL

 Militia Man

Article  "National entitlements is in Iraq's constitutional rights..."  The citizens are going to get a portion of their revenue stream.  They have non-oil and oil revenue streams.  They call it the HCL.

You can call it what you want, the Hydrocarbon Law, whatever...They haven't been paid...But that's one of their key focuses, national entitlements.

The citizens getting their salaries on time is a national entitlement, no different than the oil revenue streams...customs at the borders...That money is public money.  They're going to get a portion of that to some degree.  They're also going to get purchasing power...A better quality of life.

IQD RV🚨ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS COMPLETE!!: IMPLEMENTATION OF RATE CAN NOW PROCEED!! @DINARREVALUATION

Al-Sudani informs Congress of Baghdad's support for the Washington-Tehran negotiations.

4/13/2025

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani informed a delegation from the US Congress on Sunday of the Baghdad government's support for the Washington-Tehran negotiations that began yesterday in the Omani capital, Muscat.

The Prime Minister's media office stated in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that "Al-Sudani received, today, Sunday, a number of members of the US Congress, where they discussed developing bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields."

Al-Sudani, according to the statement, pointed out "the importance of strategic relations with the United States, which benefit the peoples of both friendly countries," noting that "the government welcomes all efforts to consolidate calm in the region, and Iraq's support for meetings and dialogues aimed at ending tensions and establishing security and stability."

He added, "Iraq is moving steadily toward achieving comprehensive development, reforms, and entitlements, most importantly holding legislative elections that will affirm the Iraqi people's commitment, across all spectrums, to the democratic process."

For their part, US Congressmen Michael Baumgartner (Republican Party) and Adam Smith, George Whitesides, Wesley Bell, and Sarah Jacobs (Democratic Party) highlighted the importance of the relationship with Iraq as a key partner in the Middle East. They praised the Iraqi government's successes in development, construction, and reconstruction across various sectors during their visit.

The Omani capital, Muscat, concluded a round of indirect talks on Saturday between delegations from Iran and the United States regarding Tehran's nuclear program. A second round is scheduled to be held next Saturday.

Tehran's delegation to the talks was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, while Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, headed the US delegation.

The meeting was held in two separate rooms, with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi conveying written messages between the two sides. He noted that the atmosphere was "friendly" and focused on achieving a "fair and binding" agreement.

FIREFLY: UPDATE, 15 APRIL

 Frank26

 [Iraq boots-on-the-ground report]

FIREFLY:Sammy says, If there is a way to mess this [currency reform/increased rate] up Iraq will find the way.

FRANK:  All right, All right, but you know what?

If there is a way to fix it, Trump will find a way.

FRANK:  Hey Sammy I have a question for you...The fact they are coming out with a digital currency to me tells me there is a new exchange rate because 1310 does not even make sense when you try to calculate it digitally.

FIREFLY:  Sammy says for you to consider that if they go digitally it will be related to a fixed rate...so it doesn't have to be raised.  But who would do this on a program rate?   No one would.  No one has.

Going digital will definitely be good for our security and stability.

WALKINGSTICK: I would say Aki's bank is for the exchange of the three zero notes #iraqidinar #iraq
