NADER FROM MID EAST : The French helped you against the English 200 years ago otherwise you would have a Britain passport

Highlights

Summary

In a recent discussion, a prominent speaker reflects on the historical contributions of the United States to the freedom of France, particularly during World War II. They confront a low-level French politician’s unwarranted remarks about the U.S. and its role, emphasizing that American intervention was critical in preventing German dominance in France.

The speaker emphasizes the importance of recognizing historical nuance and calls out what they perceive as a lack of acknowledgment of past sacrifices made by American soldiers who fought for French freedom. They argue that the U.S. military support during the war was significant, highlighting the sacrifices made by American forces and reversing the perspective that often downplays the influence of the U.S. in European conflicts.

The speaker asserts that if American support had been absent, the current narrative surrounding French identity and language could be drastically different, driving home the point that history has a way of showing the interconnectedness between nations.

  • πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ The U.S. played a vital role in liberating France during World War II, preventing the country from speaking German.
  • 🀬 The speaker criticizes a French politician for disrespectful comments towards the U.S. and highlights the historical context behind America’s sacrifices.
  • πŸ“– Historical reference: Mention of how the American Revolution was supported by France but often forgotten by critics.
  • ⚔️ Emphasis on the sacrifices of U.S. soldiers and the necessity of proper acknowledgment of their contributions.
  • πŸ”„ The speaker reflects on the cyclical nature of historical narratives and the importance of perspective.
  • 🌍 Calls for recognition of international alliances and the implications of historical events on present identities.
  • πŸ“š The assertion that history is not just a collection of facts, but a significant factor shaping national identities today.

Key Insights

  • πŸ”  Perspective on History: The speaker emphasizes the importance of understanding history beyond surface-level interpretations. The relationship between the U.S. and France during and after World War II highlights the complexities of international alliances. Acknowledging America’s sacrifices offers a more nuanced view of historical events that shaped both nations, reminding us that every country’s story is interconnected.

  • πŸ—£️ Critique of Dismissive Attitudes: Through the mention of the “low-level” French politician’s comments, the speaker underscores the dangers of arrogance in international dialogue. The tendency to dismiss contributions from other nations can lead to misunderstandings and resentment. It’s crucial for politicians and public figures to recognize and appreciate the broader historical context when making statements about other countries.

  • 🌐 Legacy of Sacrifice: The speaker brings attention to the great loss of life during World War II and the sacrifices made by American soldiers. This aspect is often overlooked in discussions about global politics today. When referencing these sacrifices, it becomes clear that history isn’t just a tale of nations; it’s about real individuals who fought and died for the freedoms enjoyed today.

  • 🧠 Historical Amnesia: The commentary suggests a concerning trend of forgetting the past, as seen in the criticisms aimed at the U.S. by certain politicians. A lack of historical knowledge influences how modern conflicts and alliances are perceived. This amnesia can lead to dismissiveness and a failure to appreciate the evolving dynamics of international relations.

  • πŸ“ˆ Consequences of Historical Ignorance: The speaker articulates that if Americans did not intervene in World War II, the political and cultural landscape of Europe today would be drastically different. Such a statement implicates the ongoing relevance of historical actions and serves as a caution against disregarding the lessons of the past.

  • πŸ”„ Re-distribution of Credit: The analysis also brings to light the notion of credit distribution in historical narratives. The speaker challenges historical structures that might reinforce narratives centered solely on European perspectives while neglecting the roles played by external actors. Recognizing the contributions of the U.S. is just as important as acknowledging those of France.

  • πŸŒ‰ Building Bridges Between Nations: Ultimately, the speaker calls for a more collaborative international outlook that acknowledges past contributions and sacrifices made by all nations involved in any conflict. This cooperative approach could lead to better diplomatic relations and a deeper understanding of shared histories, fostering a future where mutual respect prevails over divisive rhetoric.

In conclusion, this analysis emphasizes that the historical narrative is not a static issue but a dynamic dialogue that engages various perspectives and stakeholders. Understanding our shared past is essential in shaping a peaceful future where nations can coexist harmoniously, acknowledging their contributions without falling prey to historical amnesia or misunderstandings.

Iraq negotiates first gas deal with Algeria

3/18/2025

Sources reported on Tuesday that Iraq is currently engaged in advanced negotiations to conclude a liquefied natural gas deal with Algeria, in an attempt to complete the deal before next summer.

The TAQA platform quoted these sources as saying that the deal is expected to be announced within two months at most, with exports set to begin as soon as Iraq completes the import infrastructure.

The sources explained that the contract will be medium-term, and that the quantities will be approximately one million tons annually. However, negotiations have not yet finalized the quantity.

According to the platform, an Algerian liquefied natural gas deal with Iraq could support Baghdad's electricity sector during the summer of 2025, or perhaps at the beginning of winter.

Iraq is currently preparing the infrastructure at Khor al-Zubair port in Basra Governorate to import liquefied natural gas, which could take the next three to five months.

It is planned to contract for a floating platform for unloading and storage, and connect it to a 40-kilometer pipeline that will transport the gas by connecting it to the national pipeline near the Shatt al-Basra.

The Iraqi Undersecretary of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Sabir, stated at the end of February that the federal government was studying the possibility of importing gas from Qatar and Algeria after the US president revoked the exemption granted to Iraq to import this material from Iran. Sabir emphasized that the ministry was determined to stop flaring associated gas by 2030.

EXCERPTS FROM MARKZ, 20 MARCH

 EXCERPTS FROM MARKZ

MZ: I don’t know if it will go by Sunday or not…but it appears things are well underway. That is the overwhelming message I am getting out of redemption areas.

Member: will the Zim still be included in our exchanges.

MZ: I am 99% certain it will be. My sources believe it will be.

MZ: Bond folks are finding out when their final contracts appointments are. I had one person tell me they are about to get about $30K in travel money.

MZ: Many folks from different bond groups have been issued instructions on when and where to go on their final closings. They are clearly positioning for a “mass release”

MZ: I would not be surprised if there wasn’t already money flowing on that front based on the number of contacts that my messages now go straight to voicemail. The news has been exceptional. Some bond holders have already traveled.

MZ:  Smaller bond holders are still awaiting their money. Seems their travels funds are between $20-$30K….Most are having to travel to Europe. Traveling internationally across the ocean at the last minute is quite costly. I assume many of them are traveling by private jet as they are carrying boxes of bonds.

A new historic collapse: The $100 bill exceeds 10 million Iranian tomans.

3/18/2025

The exchange rate of one dollar in Tehran's open market exceeded 100,000 tomans for the first time on Tuesday, which is more than 10 million Iranian tomans for the $100 bill.

The Persian newspaper "The Independent" quoted a merchant in Tehran's bazaar as saying that the dollar is being bought for 99,500 tomans and sold for 100,000 tomans.

This price increase comes a day after US President Donald Trump issued a "threatening" message, in which he held Iran's leadership responsible for attacks launched by the Houthis in Yemen.

  • 🌱 Reducing Reliance on U.S. Dollar: Initiatives to promote the dinar in local transactions aim to diminish the use of the US dollar in favor of national currency, fostering self-sufficiency.

Key Insights

  • πŸ“Š Billionaire Investments Signal Growth: The confidence of investors like Naguib Sawiris indicates a shift toward recognizing Iraq not merely as an unstable market but as a future hub of economic activity. His projection that returns from Iraqi projects could outpace those from more stable nations highlights the unique opportunities in emerging markets. This, coupled with the relatively low competition in Iraq, could mean that early investors stand to benefit substantially.

  • πŸ”„ Resuming Oil Exports as a Catalyst: Iraq’s negotiations with Turkey to resume oil exports and enhance energy production are crucial for its economic stability. Turkey’s role as a key player in Iraq’s energy supplies suggests a strategic partnership that could lead to increased revenue and infrastructure development for Iraq. By resolving existing technical issues related to oil exports, Iraq can significantly enhance its cash flow and global standing.

  • πŸ’» Move Towards Digital Economy: The imminent launch of the digital dinar signifies a paradigm shift in Iraq’s monetary system towards digital transactions. This modernization is designed to cater to the needs of a global economy, facilitating quicker and safer transactions while reducing reliance on physical cash. It also positions Iraq to better compete on an international stage by integrating into the global digital economy, which could attract foreign investments.

  • πŸ—️ Single Window System’s Role in Investments: The development of the “Single Window” system aims to streamline bureaucratic processes and make it easier for investors to navigate the Iraqi market. By reducing red tape and creating a central communication hub for investors, Iraq is signaling its commitment to transparency and efficiency, which are critical factors for attracting substantial foreign capital.

  • πŸ”’ Transparency and Regulation Enhancements: With the integration of international standards in governance and financial management, Iraq is actively working to improve its regulatory framework. This increased transparency is critical to building trust among investors and preparing the economy for broader reforms. Aligning with international financial standards positions Iraq favorably for external investment and sustainable growth.

  • πŸ“‰ Reduction of Cash Dependency: By moving to reduce cash circulation through the promotion of electronic banking and transactions, Iraq is attempting to regulate financial flows more effectively. This transition is vital in combating the informal parallel market and can lead to a more robust economy where transactions are easier to monitor, ultimately leading to improved financial stability.

  • ✔️ Decline of Parallel Market and Currency Volatility: Aiming to stabilize the economy and eliminate the parallel market, Iraq’s monetary strategy focuses on encouraging transactions in the dinar. This is a strategic move towards stabilizing the currency and limiting external influences from the US dollar. As the environment for currency transactions becomes more structured, Iraq can expect less volatility and improved economic conditions, leading to a stronger national currency.

In conclusion, the discourse presented in this video outlines a vision for Iraq that is steeped in optimism and strategic planning. With initiatives that emphasize economic cooperation, digital transformation, and enhanced governance, Iraq is setting the stage for transformative growth that could shift its status in the Middle East and beyond. The broader implications of these developments suggest a promising horizon, aligned with global trends in finance, trade, and international relations.
