Al-Najjar: Iraq is upon a qualitative shift in housing and education

The head of the Iraq Development Fund, Muhammed Al-Najjar, confirmed on Saturday that "Iraq is upon a qualitative shift in the housing and education sectors through the "Rent and Own housing projects and "Eduba", which will witness the construction of more than 8,000 schools," indicating that the two projects will be implemented in partnership with the private sector.

"The two projects depend on a partnership between the private and public sectors, where the private sector builds the projects, and the government pays installments for the buildings of those projects over a specific period until they are owned," said Al-Najjar in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

Al-Najjar stressed "the importance of these two projects in meeting the basic needs of citizens, especially about housing," noting that "the first project will provide housing units at reasonable prices, while the second project will contribute to improving the quality of education and providing a suitable educational environment for students."

"The Rent and Own" project will begin by focusing on the families of martyrs in appreciation of their sacrifices. The government will work to expand the scope of the project to include other segments of society," he added.

He explained that "these projects come within the framework of the Fund's vision to support the private sector and encourage it to participate in implementing service projects. The "Eduba" project for building schools is one of these projects, which aims to build about 8,000 to 9,000 new schools."

"Next year is expected to witness an acceleration in the implementation and launch of these two projects, which will contribute to achieving a qualitative shift in the housing and education sectors in Iraq," he included.
