Iran and Iraq unite against escalating regional threats: a diplomatic push for stability amid crisis, 14 OCT
Shafaq News/ Amid escalating regional tensions fueled by Israeli aggressions in Gaza and Lebanon, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Baghdad underscores Iran's efforts to manage regional crises and signal its intent to avoid escalating conflict. As Tehran and Baghdad strive to avert a major conflict, they stand united in supporting Palestine and Lebanon in the ongoing struggle against oppression.
Araghchi arrived in Baghdad on Sunday for a brief official visit, during which he met with Iraqi officials to discuss the latest developments in the region.
Iran and Iraq Align
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, said on X, that the Iranian Foreign Minister had arrived in Baghdad for talks with Iraqi officials. The visit, part of Araghchi’s broader consultations with Islamic nations including Qatar and Saudi Arabia, focuses on the deteriorating regional situation following Israeli strikes in Gaza and Lebanon.
Navid Behrouz, an expert on Iranian affairs, told Shafaq News that the primary goal of the visit is to coordinate responses to “critical and sensitive developments” caused by repeated Israeli aggressions in the region, which now pose a threat to Iraq and Iran.
“The key outcome of this visit was Iraq’s commitment to prevent any party, especially Israel, from using its airspace to launch attacks on the Islamic Republic,” Behrouz said.
Araghchi reportedly praised Iraq's stance during a press conference, emphasizing the alignment between the two nations on regional issues, including support for Gaza, Lebanon, and the broader Palestinian cause.
Behrouz added that Iraq’s position aligns with its role in the Axis of Resistance, standing against what he described as Zionist aggression and the “war of extermination” in Palestine and Lebanon. The expert warned that “the region is on the brink of a wider conflict, fueled by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies.”
Iran, Iraq Urge Diplomacy
During his Sunday visit to Baghdad, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stressed that Iran and Iraq are collaborating to prevent a major regional war amid rising tensions.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Araghchi said, “We do not seek war nor provocation, but we are fully prepared to face it. We will exhaust all avenues in consultation with the Iraqi government to prevent a catastrophic conflict in the region.”
Araghchi also praised Iraq for its stance in blocking the use of its airspace for any potential attacks on Iran, a position he highlighted as necessary for maintaining regional stability.
Both ministers underscored the escalating risks, with Araghchi attributing rising tensions to “crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Gaza,” which he warned have already spread to Lebanon and may threaten other countries.
Hussein echoed these concerns, warning that “the conflict Israel is waging could expand to involve Iran, potentially disrupting energy supplies and triggering a global crisis.” He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to ensuring its airspace is not used for strikes against Iran.
Iraq Faces Risks
“The recent visit of Araghchi to Baghdad underscores Iran's efforts to manage regional crises and communicate to the international community its intent to avoid escalating the conflict.” According to Saadoun Al-Saadi, a professor of international relations.
Al-Saadi pointed out that “Iran aims to highlight the dangers of targeting its nuclear facilities or oil infrastructure, which could jeopardize the Strait of Hormuz and trigger a global energy crisis.”
“Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein warned that the conflict could escalate into an energy crisis, making Iraq vulnerable due to its reliance on oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. A shutdown of these exports would leave Iraq's oil shipments at a standstill,” he explained to Shafaq News.
To mitigate these risks, Al-Saadi noted that the Iraqi government is discouraging factions from launching attacks on Israel, achieving some compliance out of concern for potential retaliatory strikes. “This approach is not driven by fear but by a genuine concern over potential retaliatory strikes against Iraq.”
“Iraq seeks to maintain a delicate balance in its foreign relations, engaging with both the United States and the West while also preserving ties with Iran, which is actively seeking support for its stance.”
Moreover, Al-Saadi stressed the importance of the Iraqi government’s efforts to “neutralize” the country from this escalating conflict. “Ongoing negotiations with various factions have resulted in compliance from most, leaving only three factions still engaged in launching strikes from Iraqi soil.”
Justice Vs. Evil
In the current geopolitical landscape, Salam Al-Jazaeri, a member of the political bureau for Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, characterized the situation as a struggle between two opposing axes: the “Axis of Justice,” led by Iran and comprising Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, and the “Axis of Evil,” represented by Israel, the United States, and several supportive Arab nations, including Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Al-Jazaeri described the Iranian Foreign Minister's visit to Baghdad as primarily political rather than focused on military or resistance activities.
Speaking to Shafaq News, Al-Jazaeri warned that any military strike against Iran “would elicit a strong response” against the countries mentioned, emphasizing that the ongoing conflict has broadened to include all resistance factions across the region, including those in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. “These factions are united in their resolve to support Palestine and Lebanon in this war,” he stated.
He asserted that “Iraqi resistance is fully engaged in the war against Israel without truce or compromise, and its readiness to act will only grow in the coming days.”
Al-Jazaeri explained that the Iraqi resistance operates based on “legitimate ethical and national principles,” aimed at protecting Iraq from what he described as Zionist recklessness. He emphasized that there is no division in perspectives with the Iraqi government, which he claims supports the Palestinian and Lebanese causes and stands firmly aligned with the Axis of Resistance against oppression.
Furthermore, he highlighted the role of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in “shielding the Iraqi populace from being drawn into a full-scale war,” noting his diplomatic efforts with nations opposing Israeli actions.
Al-Jazaeri remarked that Al-Sudani's statements resonate with a global desire to end the conflict. “If international consensus is reached to cease hostilities, that would be acceptable,” he stated. “However, if Israel continues its actions in Palestine and Lebanon, Iraq will have no choice but to defend itself against this brutal force.”
ZORRA CALL, 14 OCT
ZORRA CALL
Sunday September 8
DR. TOM:
Let's talk about a short update I just got from Mr. Shelton. Right now there is so much misinformation and a lot of the gurus who are saying it would happen this weekend and blah blah blah and it really hurts the community and especially the people who are going through hard times.
I have the New Calendar now and the World Court is in the process of approving the RV. Decisions are being made. Money is going through control.
They say they want everything to start before the end of the fiscal year which is on October 1st so it is expected by the end of this month. The distribution system is an analog system and decisions have to be made on that.
Right now and for next week, 1 or 2% of emergency funds around the world are being prepared. It is money that has been needed for many years in very devastated areas. That will come out once the audit is done and it is proven if everything is okay.
The military is being paid. They need their money. The legal side is getting paid. The media is starting to expose the QFS and a little bit of a possible EBS. We are in a slow release. It won't happen fast. The White Hats are in charge. There are 6 major generals who are running the show.
NESARA is getting ready to release the first funds for mortgages and student loans. There are over 100 organizations that have passed the test that have received funding, they are organizations that are involved in Humanitarian Projects.
Criminal activities like money laundering are being watched right now.
Iraq was here last week sorting out things that have to do with their country, nothing too VR related, more regarding BRICS and other things. The treasury notes are being tested and at the banks, the top employees have been in training for the past week and hopefully, they will move on to train the people employed at lower levels.
T4B which is us, they are trying to make it happen by the end of this fiscal year so by the end of this month. There are 27 categories of payments, we are the last one and we hope it will be by the end of this month.
The World Court has to approve the release of the emergency funds and there is a lot of information although everything has been going on in private sectors: the gold standard, the QFs, everything is being prepared to be known publicly.
JANE: I know we are waiting for the public. We are not there yet, right?
DR. TOM: Well, what they will do is release the Emergency Funds worldwide first that are part of NESARA and we hope they will be released next week. Basically the way I see it is that when you talk about it politically, we don't have any government that is running the show. We haven't had it for over 100 years. The fake administration that we have there, you know, there is no more corporation. It's all really a show so that they can wrap it up in the New Constitution and for that, we must end that system.
Whoever comes: the military, Trump, whoever… we must end that system and the fake administration.
US Department of Defense: Iraqis are incredibly skilled in counterterrorism operations, 14 OCT
Shafaq News/ The region remains vigilant as the terror group ISIS adapts its strategies in response to coalition efforts, according to a report from the US Department of Defense, titled “Defeat-ISIS Group Adapts to Continue Pressure on Islamic State.”
In 2014, ISIS launched a violent campaign across Iraq and Syria, threatening millions with a brutal regime characterized by murder, rape, and genocide. Unlike other terror organizations, ISIS aimed to establish a caliphate and sought to eliminate those who did not share its ideology. “The ISIS genocidal moves against the Yazidi people in Iraq resulted in at least 5,000 deaths including the kidnapping and forced conversion of tens of thousands, are a case in point of what their rule might have looked like,” the report affirmed.
At its peak, ISIS controlled significant territories, including Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city. However, the US-led Defeat-ISIS coalition has successfully liberated much of this territory, showcasing “a new and effective way of confronting this worldwide threat.”
The report cited Alan Matney, the Department of Defense's coordinator for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, stating, “The terrorists no longer rule territory, but the ideology espoused by the group continues, and there is still a need for the coalition.” He emphasized the importance of adaptability, saying, “I think if we've learned anything over the last 10 years of the coalition, then I would argue that this threat does not go away: It changes and it adapts. ”
"Where we are right now, is we are at a normal and healthy stage where we are adapting, too."
Over the past decade, the coalition has shifted its focus from reclaiming territory to anticipating ISIS's next moves and potential targets. “Groups like ISIS just continually assess what their strengths are, assess what their weaknesses are and try to position themselves to take advantage of that,” Matney noted. “We do the same.”
Matney explained that ISIS aims to stretch its opponents thin, saying, “ISIS, very deliberately, wants us to overreact or react in a way that is strategically impossible to maintain. It wants us to use so many resources that individual countries just can't do it." He added, “The coalition really has been our key tool to countering that strategy. Collectively, we've spread the burden of opposing ISIS effectively, and we still are [effective] today.”
The coalition's approach has transitioned from military confrontations to intelligence-sharing and counterterrorism training for partner nations. In Iraq, the coalition collaborates closely with Iraqi security forces, with Matney asserting, “The Iraqis are incredibly skilled now in counterterrorism operations. They have become really skilled partners. We also have local partners in Syria who are highly skilled and highly capable."
As a result of coalition successes, ISIS faces significant challenges in Iraq and Syria. ISIS now tries to operate in West Africa, Somalia, Afghanistan and Southeast Asia. “It's kind of seeping back into places where they are hard to find, requiring different approaches for how you go after it,” Matney explained, emphasizing the coalition's adaptability.
While the US has reduced its military presence in areas like Afghanistan and West Africa, Matney highlighted the importance of its partners, stating, “While we don't have as much insight into what is going on day to day, we have 87 partners, among our partners that can help us meet those needs.”
"In these other areas, where do we have collective strengths? Who among our partners can help us meet those needs?"
Matney also described the coalition as “a unique multilateral organization” that operates differently from consensus-based entities like the United Nations or NATO. “When the coalition stood up, we chose a different model,” he noted, highlighting the coalition's agility. “I tell people, 'Every member gets a vote, but nobody gets a veto.'” This flexibility allows for effective responses even when some nations opt not to participate in certain operations.
The coalition's model has served as an example for other multinational efforts, with Matney citing the Ukraine Defense Contact Group as a recent illustration. “This is not to say this is the new template for everything, everywhere,” he cautioned. “But it is something we can point to and say how it worked for us, and how it may be adapted in other circumstances.”

Right now I don't have confidence in Iraq's economy because what's at stake, what's going on. Even if they build a minor version of what they want to do [Development Road Project], it's not going to be as big as what they need it to be.
They needed to pick the right side [East or the West], they didn't.
The indicators that they didn't pick the right side is that Hezbollah and Hamas were going to build their headquarters in Iraq...
It doesn't look like they're going to be part of our markets.
They're making bad bad moves right now. For the first time. Hezbollah is a shell of what they used to be so we'll see how things work out.
