Baghdad - 

Today, Thursday, the President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, approved a number of laws, including the 2024 budget schedules.

The Presidency’s Media Department said in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, ratified a number of draft laws, which are the schedules of the Federal General Budget Law for the year 2024, the first amendment to the Anti-Prostitution and Homosexuality Law, and the Law Extending the work of the Independent High Electoral Commission, and the first amendment law to the law regulating the rent of agricultural lands and granting ownership of the right to dispose of them for agricultural and veterinary graduates.”
The statement added, "The laws were sent after their approval by the President of the Republic for publication in the Iraqi newspaper Al-Waqae' to enter into force."
The Presidency of the Republic confirmed - according to the statement - that it is “moving forward in supporting legislation and laws that are in the interest of the country and citizens, by approving the laws approved by the House of Representatives, as well as by submitting draft laws by the Presidency of the Republic to the House of Representatives for the purpose of discussing and approving them.”

President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid approved a number of bills, the presidency announced in a statement on Thursday. The statement stated that the approved laws are: the tables of the Federal Budget Law of 2024, the first amendment of the Law on Combating Prostitution and homosexuality, the law of extension of the work of the Independent High Electoral Commission, and the law of the first amendment to the law regulating the rent of agricultural land and owning the right to dispose of it for agricultural and veterinary graduates. The statement added that the laws were sent after their ratification by the President of the Republic for publication in the Iraqi Fact Sheet to enter into force. The Presidency of the Republic stressed that it is moving forward in supporting legislation and laws that are in the interest of the country and citizens, by ratifying laws approved by the House of Representatives, as well as by submitting draft laws by the Presidency of the Republic to the House of Representatives for the purpose of discussing and approving them.

• The call confirmed what I had posted earlier plus indicated the exchange process will begin in China move eastward to Europe and then to the US.

• They anticipate a start soon but cannot confirm the exact start date.

• They are also positive we are almost there.

It's been awhile since I last posted however I only post when the info is confirmed.  

Well the WF Banker responsible for 5 states exchange centers has advised that all his trained specialists will be on a one hour call to their assigned positions all this coming weekend and were cautioned this event could very well be activated so they should be aware of their duties for the next several weeks.

First they schedule appointments then they operate the necessary machinery at the various banks to complete the exchanges for US currency.

Well one item that was confirmed during the call is that there were hundreds of ATM machines positioned all over the city and loaded with new lower denomination notes.  They anticipate this weekend or during the Holy Week celebration.

The Oil Parliament comments on the failure of the producing provinces to receive petrodollar dues

Individual from the Parliamentary Oil and Regular Assets Board, Basem Al-Gharibawi, affirmed today, Friday, that the oil-creating territories have not yet accepted their petrodollar levy, regardless of the ascent in oil costs to more than the figure determined in the financial plan.

“The petrodollar dues are still in the hands of the government, and the governorates have not received their money even though they are due to be paid to the governorates producing oil,” Al-Gharibawi stated.

“Parliament has fixed petrodollar dues in this year’s budget, noting that oil prices have not fallen below $81 per barrel,” he went on to say, “it is assumed that the price difference specified in the budget will be distributed as dues to the oil-producing provinces.”

“The remaining 30 percent must be distributed to the oil-producing governorates, as the government still owes many amounts that must be paid as petrodollar dues,” he stated. “70 percent of the difference in the price of a barrel of oil recorded in the budget goes to filling the deficit.”

 What sense would it make for Iraq to join, at a program rate, the WTO?  It makes no sense.  The Vietnamese dong it's in the WTO but...they are totally different.  They deal with China and they have undervalued currency.   Vietnam is a totally different scenario.  Going into the WTO at a program rate is ridiculous...Everything is waiting for the new exchange rate so everything will make sense...

Iraq forms committee to address UN report on executions

Shafaq News/ Iraq's government said on Friday it has formed a committee to respond to a United Nations human rights report on the country's use of the death penalty.

"The Iraqi government has reviewed the report of the UN human rights commissioner and is committed to upholding human rights principles," said Iraqi government spokesman Basem al-Awwadi. "The committee will clarify all aspects related to the information in the report and ensure transparency in legal procedures."

The committee will comprise representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Prime Minister's office, the Foreign Ministry, and the judiciary, including a member from the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee in an observer role.

In April, Amnesty International said at least 13 men were put to death on 22 April in Nasiriyah Central Prison, in the southern governorate of Dhi Qar, following their conviction on overly broad and vague terrorism charges.

Out of the men executed on 22 April, 11 were convicted based on their affiliation to the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) armed group.

Nasiriyah prison is the only prison in Iraq that carries out executions. Commonly referred to as "al-Hout" or "the whale" by Iraqis for "swallowing people up and never spitting them out," according to HRW, it has carried out mass executions in the past. In 2017, 41 and 38 people respectively were executed less than three months apart. Currently, 8,000 prisoners are reported to be on death row in Iraq, with the majority facing terrorism charges.
