Today, Friday, Rafidain Bank began deploying ATM machines in its main branches, then institutions, commercial areas, and malls .

The bank stated in a statement, a copy of which was received by the 964 Network:

Al-Rafidain Bank begins deploying ATM machines in its main branches, and then institutions, commercial areas, and malls, respectively, in implementation of its strategic objectives in enhancing the spread of the bank’s services in accordance with Al-Rafidain’s strategy to enhance financial inclusion and provide the best services to its customers.

Question: Is it necessary for Iraq to publish the rate in the budget before we make appointments? MarkZ: I do not think it’s necessary. I believe they will try to keep the rate private as long as possible like what they did with Kuwait.

Question: I saw that Iraq has holidays coming up. Would this slow them down releasing the rates? MarkZ: Everytime we have looked in the past we saw Kuwait revalued during Ramadan…. Iraq revalued in the early 70’s during a holiday. I wouldn’t be too worried about those things.

I thought this was important...I had sat down with some bankers who wanted to run through scenarios with me and my currency and train some people. Today, Friday, Rafidain Bank announced the start of deploying ATM machines in its main branches.

His media office stated in a statement received by Mawazine News, “The bank has begun deploying ATM machines in its main branches and then institutions, commercial areas, and malls, respectively.”

He added, "This is in implementation of its strategic objectives in enhancing the spread of the bank's services in accordance with Al-Rafidain's strategy to enhance financial inclusion and provide the best services to its customers."

If they have a real effective exchange rate like al-Sudani said, that the dinar is going to be stronger than the dollar, the parallel market goes away...Obviously the stronger the currency is the cheaper it is for Iraq to do what they need to do. It's a no-brainer. It's that simple.

The black market is going to exist if the United States dollar is less than the Iraqi dinar...There's not much demand for the dollar now...They've got it under control. Is it showtime? I sure hope so.

I don't care if you've been in this for 20 years. What we're seeing now is completely different. It's a progression. Some people don't like the progression. They just want it to be over and done. Welcome to the club.

You kind of need the IMF article VIII compliance and that's what we're waiting for which is a real effective exchange rate. I think these guys are about ready to expose that.
