Sudanese Lassakhart: Demand to end UNAMI work for political and security stability in Iraq
Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, on Sunday, informed the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Jinin Plaskhart, on the occasion of the end of her duties, why Iraq requested the end of {UNAMI} work in the country.
A statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, a copy of which was received by {Euphrates News}, said that during the meeting, Al-Sudani expressed the government’s appreciation for its efforts throughout its work in Iraq.”
He pointed out that the request to end the work of the UNAMI mission comes based on the political and security stability witnessed by Iraq, and the progress it has made in several fields, pointing to the continuation of the Iraqi government in cooperation with the international agencies of the United Nations, in accordance with the government program and its development objectives and at all levels and fields, especially with the progress made in the fields of economic reform and the reconstruction of infrastructure, and the growing capabilities of our armed forces of all types.
For its part, Blaskhart renewed its praise on the important steps and promising initiatives presented by Iraq during the last eighteen months, especially in the fields of service provision, infrastructure reconstruction and investment, plans to mitigate environmental impacts, and reduce dependence on imported fuel.
