Iraq, Turkiye move closer to resolving Kurdistan oil dispute: spokesperson
Shafaq News/ Iraqi government spokesperson Bassem al-Awadi said on Monday Ankara is keen on facilitating Iraqi oil exports through the Ceyhan pipeline as Baghdad moves with steady steps towards resolving the long-standing oil dispute with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
"The issue of Kurdistan's oil is almost settled," he told Shafaq News agency. "The Turkish side informed Iraq over a month ago that it was ready to pump oil through the Turkish Ceyhan pipeline. There is no problem in pumping oil through Turkiye."
He said that "the crux of the matter lies in the relationship between the KRG and the central government, particularly regarding the rights of oil extraction companies in the region."
According to new regulations, these companies must deal with the federal government and the state-owned SOMO oil company.
"There are new contracts, companies, and negotiations," al-Awwadi explained.
"Turkiye is ready and has informed Iraq of this."
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Iraq on Monday for his first visit since 2011. The Iraqi-Turkish talks focus on security, military, and economic matters and expanding trade cooperation.
Turkey has sought closer cooperation from Baghdad in its fight against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a sensitive issue that has strained relations between the two countries due to Turkish military operations in Iraq's northern Kurdistan region. Additionally, disagreements over oil exports and water-sharing have further complicated the ties. The dispute over Kurdistan's oil exports has been a particularly thorny issue, with the two sides at odds over the resumption of oil exports through a pipeline running through Turkey.
After nearly a decade of seeking international arbitration, the Iraqi government obtained recognition of its right to control oil exports and ordered Ankara to pay $1.5 billion in compensation for transporting oil without Baghdad's approval. In response, Ankara shut down the export pipeline, which contributes about 0.5% of the world's crude oil supply, and initiated maintenance work. The two countries have agreed to await the completion of the pipeline maintenance assessment before resuming flows while continuing to engage in a legal battle over the arbitration rulings.
Article: "Iraq, US to form joint team to address sanctions on Iraqi banks" Central Bank Governor Al-Alaq has worked for concessions for and on the behalf of Iraqi Banks to the UST with regard to current sanctions imposed on them.
Al-Sudani has rocked it. They showcased this country like they've never done before. We've never seen this. Anybody that's been in this investment since 2003 has never witnessed what we're witnessing today...
If they were going to come out at 1310 dinar to try to do all the things they're doing right now the world would be just like they were in Kuwait - crickets. This is powerful. Wonderful.
Article: "Member of Sudanese delegation: We will witness a rapid decline of the dollar in the coming days"
When they say the rapid decline of the dollar I don't believe for a moment they're saying the dollar is going to crash. What I believe they're saying is their expectation is the dinar is going to rise.
Shafaq News / Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed, on Monday, the need to strengthen relations with Iraq in all fields, considering that the signing of today’s agreements with Iraq is a new page and a starting point for the future of the two countries, while revealing the signing of an agreement with Iraq to consider pkk a terrorist organization in order to combat and eliminate it, he said.
Erdogan said, in the press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, in Baghdad, that he “respondered to the invitation of my dear Sudanese brother, and it is fortunate to be in Baghdad, and the Iraqi brothers made us feel at home,” noting that “Iraq is a neighboring country and we count its strategic calculation, and we want to be with them on a permanent understanding, and that the agreements we have convinced with them will be a new page in Turkish-Iraqi relations.”
He added that “Iraq is a neighboring country with which we have many common denominals, and we have the political will to push the relations of Iraq and Turkey forward,” stressing that “the memos that occurred represent a turning point in our relations with Iraq.”
“We will provide the necessary coordination to ensure the full implementation of the agreements signed with Iraq,” Erdogan continued, noting that he discussed “with the Prime Minister cooperation in the security and counter-terrorism files, and we are ready to provide support to the Iraqi government in the fight against terrorism.”
He pointed out that “the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Turkey increased to 20 billion dollars, and we are determined to participate in the path of development to achieve trade development, as well as we established a Turkish-Iraqi committee to solve the water problem on a scientific and rational basis.”
Erdogan pointed out that “an agreement was signed with Iraq to consider pkk a terrorist organization in order to combat and eliminate it permanently, because of the danger it poses to our country and the region, and Iraq expressed its readiness to do so.”
“We discussed the effects of Zionist repression in Gaza and consulted on joint steps to calm the situation, and we are supportive of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital,” the Turkish president continued.
The Turkish president concluded by saying: “I will visit Erbil after Baghdad to discuss joint relations, and I thank Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani for their hospitality.”
Earlier in the day, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shiaa al-Sudani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sponsored in Baghdad the signing ceremony of a four-way memorandum of understanding between Iraq, Turkey, Qatar and the UAE.
According to a statement received by Shafaq News, the memorandum aims to joint cooperation on the strategic (development road project), in the presence of members of the Turkish and Iraqi delegations, including ministers and advisers.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in the capital Baghdad on Monday for a visit in 13 years, and Erdogan will also visit Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, after concluding his meetings with Iraqi officials in Baghdad.
Erdogan was received at Baghdad International Airport by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shiaa of Sudan.
Everyone’s got their eye on Iraq RI, but that’s not the key. Here are the three key items that matter the most:
1.) XRP winning their case outright and the firing of Gary Gensler at the SEC (who in turn holds a ton of XRP by the way)
2.) the repegging of USTC
3.) then the Dinar and other things to go
Sudani was successful in terms of getting the strategic framework signed last week in DC. He wisely used his leverage to join the BRICS under China and Russia if America didn’t cooperate, which surprise they did.
This week he meets with Erdogan of turkey to sign everything else and move the ball forward. Let’s see how the rest of the aforementioned items play themselves out.
* The Dinar will happen on a religious holiday, but not just any one. It will be a Yeshua Jesus ABBA holiday and nothing else.
