Aboul Gheit: The Arab Summit in Baghdad will address priority economic issues for the region.

The Economic and Social Council's ministerial-level meeting kicked off in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Tuesday, as part of preparations for the fifth session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit.

The meeting opened with a speech delivered by the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Lebanese Republic, Amer Bisat, President of the previous session of the Council, in which he announced the handover of the presidency of the current session to the Republic of Iraq, which will chair it for a period of four years.

He commended Iraq's role in supporting Arab causes, particularly its support for Lebanon during the most difficult circumstances, expressing his confidence in Iraq's ability to lead this session with competence and ability.

For his part, the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Iraq, Atheer Dawood Salman, assumed the presidency of the current session, welcoming the participating Arab delegations to Baghdad in his speech.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, congratulated Iraq on assuming the presidency of the current session, wishing it success in leading its work.

In his speech, he pointed to the rapid developments witnessed by the Arab economy, stressing the importance of reaching a unified Arab vision that enhances regional cooperation and supports market stability.

Aboul Gheit explained that Arab countries are capable of achieving a better economic reality if they adopt an approach of partnership and integration.

The Secretary-General also pointed to the positive transformations taking place in Iraq, stressing that the summit agenda will address economic and development issues of priority to the region.

 The Iraqi central bank wants to remove the zeros off the Iraqi dinar.  We spoke about this at least 5 billion times...

They're talking about the removal of the zeros, the deletion of the zeros.  He's talking about a redenomination...A 1,000 dinar note becomes a 1 dinar note. 

 Get it?  Deletion of the zeros.  Removing the zeros only affects the nominal value not the actual value.

 "Nominal" is the way the bank note looks.  So instead of it being 1,000 dinars, it's a 1 dinar.  That's the only value that changes.  Not the actual exchange value.  That will remain the same

  So let's say they didn't delete the zeros.  You have a 25,000 dinar note.  

Times the current exchange rate .00076 comes out to $19 [25,000 X .00076 = $19].  If they delete the zeros your 25,000 dinar becomes a 25 dinar...You take the 25, now the zeros are going, multiply the exchange rate, which they took the 3 zeros off, which is .76 is still $19 [25 X .76 = $19]...

With the zeros, $19.  Without the zeros, $19.....The nominal value will change, but not the actual value...

They need to change the old bank notes for the new bank notes...You're going to exchange your 25,000 dinar straight across for 25.  That's what's going to happen...You're not going to be able to exchange 1,000 for 1,000.

Exclusive: Trump in Saudi Arabia to ward off a 3D "ghost" from the region

President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia has sparked optimism among Saudi circles about the potential economic and security agreements it may produce between the two countries, as well as the prospect of warding off crises, problems, and conflicts in the region .

Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday morning, kicking off a regional tour that will also include the UAE and Qatar. The tour will focus on regional security, defense, energy, and investment issues, along with ongoing cooperation to address common challenges, according to the US State Department .

In this context, Saudi researcher specializing in regional and international relations, Mutair Al-Ruwaihili, said, "Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia has regional and international political significance for the Kingdom. It is Trump's first destination after assuming office, and this demonstrates the Kingdom's stature in the region and the world, and the pivotal and important role it plays on behalf of Arab states in many issues ."

Al-Ruwahili confirmed to Shafaq News Agency that "Saudi Arabia and the United States have been strategic friends for nearly eight decades, and that they have agreements and treaties in defense, military, and economic areas. New agreements are expected to be announced during this visit ."

He added, "The visit reinforces Saudi Arabia's regional standing with all countries and international actors, as the Kingdom holds many important files and stands equitably with everyone, East and West. This policy has earned Saudi Arabia special importance with the United States and with all influential countries in the world ."

Al-Ruwaihili pointed out that "Trump's visit comes at a sensitive time, as the Middle East is undergoing a significant juncture amidst significant geopolitical changes, particularly following the events of October 7 and their repercussions on the region's countries, and the decline of Iran's role following Israeli strikes on Tehran's proxies in the region ."

He pointed out that the visit came "in light of the US-Iranian nuclear negotiations, the tensions that observers have noticed on both sides, and the US threat to target Iranian nuclear facilities ."

At the end of his remarks, the Saudi researcher expressed his hope that "the visit will remove the specter of crises, problems, and conflicts from the region, and that Israel will be restrained from targeting any area in Gaza, Syria, or Lebanon without being held accountable ."

It is noteworthy that the US President described his visit to Saudi Arabia, and later the UAE and Qatar, as a "historic visit " before arriving in Riyadh .

The British newspaper, The Times, reported on Monday that a meeting between Trump and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa was likely to take place in Saudi Arabia, as part of a group that includes Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun .

The Saudi capital, Riyadh, is hosting the summit that will bring together Trump and the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries .

 We have been looking for notifications since Tuesday- and the weather conditions have been a factor – 

with being so cold and lots of snow – but now the snow is melting. We did find out today there were three countries Germany and South Korea and they were trying to connect to Starlink – 

and they needed verification of their in-ground assets. These currency values are determined by these in-ground and above ground assets – now in the US we have a lot of Gold but these three countries were slow and today given an ultimatum and now they have to get that information to the US that is needed – 

that is no longer an issue. So then we heard from an international bank to their RC’s prepare for Friday and Saturday to be “Gang Buster Days” and you will be very busy on those days. 

So we took that to mean Bond Holders should be notified tomorrow – and also all those other claims if they don’t go out tonight then they will tomorrow – so those Intermediaries and then Bond Holders and us and the Admiral groups. 

But The latest piece of intel is saying Saturday which we just got tonight from the person in the Treasury who was appointing these PM’s for the groups in Reno and this for us would be Saturday so pray it’s before Noon and then we could start in the afternoon and carry on from there 

– Bruce would love to say it’s tomorrow but it’s really looking like Saturday for us in T4B – he also said we’ll be very delighted with the rates as they are rising, and the price of that barrel of oil is in the $80’s and the contract rate only available at the RC and maximum appointment exchange time is 40 minutes 

– so you might need a double appointment – but all that has to be done is going to take time, but it will go fast and do have fun with it- pay attention – the NDA could last 30 days or go as long as 6 months, they will make that depending on your presentation and attitude at the exchange 

– Bruce is looking at getting this started this week and medbeds are going to moved up to the public on 27th and 28th and we of course do have priority for dire needs.

Iraq welcomes the PKK's decision to dissolve itself and lay down its arms.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Kurdistan Workers' Party's decision to dissolve itself, cease armed conflict, and lay down its weapons, considering it a positive and important step that contributes to enhancing security and stability in Iraq and the region.

 

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement, a copy of which was received by {Euphrates News}, that "this announcement represents a real opportunity to advance peace efforts and end the protracted conflicts that have cast a shadow over the peoples of the region for decades."
The statement added, "This development also constitutes a natural pretext for reconsidering the pretexts and justifications that have long been used to justify the presence of foreign forces on Iraqi soil."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed its "support for all efforts aimed at consolidating peace and stability," emphasizing "the importance of addressing security challenges through dialogue and understanding, in order to achieve the aspirations of the region's peoples for security and development."

Kurdish PKK ends 40-year Turkey insurgency, bringing hope of regional stability

The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group, which has been locked in bloody conflict with Turkey for more than four decades, has decided to disband and end its armed struggle, group members and Turkish leaders said on Monday.

Since the PKK launched its insurgency in 1984 - originally with the aim of creating an independent Kurdish state - the conflict has killed more than 40,000 people, exerted a huge economic burden and fuelled social tensions.
