The president of the Kurdistan region arrives in Baghdad
Shafaq News / The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, arrived on Saturday morning, in the capital Baghdad to participate in the official memorial service on the occasion of the day of the “Iraqi martyr” on the anniversary of the assassination of Ayatollah Mohammed Baqer Al-Hakim.
The President of the region will deliver a speech during the ceremony, which will be held this morning in the office of the leader of the Wisdom Current, Ammar Al-Hakim, in the presence of presidencies, government, parliamentary, and political agencies, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations.
And Muhammad Baqer, the son of Grand Ayatollah Mohsen Al-Hakim, the great Shiite religious authority. He is also the founder of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq, which is one of the Iraqi opposition forces that worked against the former Iraqi regime, one of the most prominent Shiite leaders in Iraq.
The late was born in 1939 in Najaf, and was assassinated on August 29, 2003 following the 2003 Najaf bombing after he exited the shrine of Imam Ali where he was giving the Friday prayer sermon. Dozens of people were killed in that bombing.
