Al-Sudani during his hosting under the dome of parliament: Iraq bears a daily fine for counting the export of oil through Turkey’s Jehan

Baghdad – Mil

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed on Wednesday that Iraq bears a daily fine for the export of oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan, while explaining the reason for the delay of the ministerial amendment before parliament.

Al-Sudani said in a speech during his hosting of parliament that “the Zionist entity has transcended all international norms and conventions by practicing genocide against the Palestinian people, pointing out that “Iraq’s position is fixed and clear in all forums in its solidarity with the Palestinian cause, which represents the conscience of all Iraqis, and stressing the importance of calm during the meetings and contacts it made, and not expanding the arena of conflict and keenness on the principled position of Iraq and the supreme interest of the country, as well as the humanitarian aspect of Iraq with the help of the people of Gaza and the establishment of the Fund for the Reconstruction of Gaza and Lebanon.”

He stressed “Iraq’s natural right to ensure and strengthen the security of its borders and to emphasize national unity to preserve the security of Iraq, its people and its regime, pointing out that “Iraq has advanced military capabilities, in addition to being part of the international coalition to combat terrorism.”

He pointed to “the content of the agreement with the coalition to end the foreign military presence in Iraq definitively in September 2025, and in the Kurdistan Region in September 2026, relying on faith in the unity of the Iraqi people in facing challenges.”

Regarding the amendment of the general budget law, Al-Sudani touched on “the importance of amending the law to address the issue of oil marketing from the Kurdistan Region, especially the article related to the cost of production and transportation, indicating that Iraq bears a daily fine for not exporting oil to the port of Ceyhan in accordance with an agreement with the Turkish side.”

He pointed out that “the amendment of the article comes in cooperation with an international consultant to solve the file between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, calling on the House of Representatives to expedite the amendment of the Federal General Budget Law for the fiscal years 2023, 2024 and 2025.”

Regarding the government program, the Prime Minister explained that “the ministerial amendment is one of the principles of the government program and its purpose does not target any party or personal, but it was included according to professional criteria for each ministry and the government in relation to the ministerial amendment through two stages, but the failure of proceeding with it is due to the non-approval of some parties of the political forces that are responsible forming the government on the amendment mechanism.”

He added that “the priorities of the government program include strategic projects and programs with completion rates of 62%, calling on the House of Representatives to legislate important laws such as the Aviation Authority Law, the Economic Reform Law, the Arbitration Law, the Securities Law and the Intellectual Property Law
