A number of my contacts from Iraq that very much believe we will cross the finish line in the next 3 days.
We have seen tremendous HCL movement in Iraq.
There are many rumors that it has already passed. But I can tell you it was not in the Gazette this morning...
In the Islamic world they tend to tell you about things…after it is finished.
So HCL could be done…just not announced... But the mood is very upbeat in Iraq. There are a number of folks looking at the next 3 days and we are hopeful and praying.
Prime Minister's speech on the occasion of Victory Day
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed today, Monday, that Victory Day is a day when all Iraqis are proud of what they achieved 7 years ago in a resounding victory over the defeated ISIS gangs, stressing that Victory Day has become a milestone in the journey of our people.
Al-Sudani said in a televised speech on the occasion of (Iraqi Victory Day), the anniversary of the elimination of the terrorist ISIS in 2017: “Today, we are following the events in neighboring Syria, and we are hopeful that the countries of the region and the entire world will assume responsibility to preserve the security and sovereignty of Syria.”
He stressed the "necessity of leaving the choice to the Syrian people and respecting their free will, along with the international responsibility to preserve the unity of Syrian territory and protect diversity."
He pointed out that, “The first thing we remember on this day is that victory has become a reality that we have been proud of throughout history thanks to the sacrifices of the martyrs and the wounded, and the supreme authority supported it with its blessed fatwa,” adding, “Friends and brothers stood with us in confronting terrorism because the Iraqis fought on behalf of the world.”
He stressed that "the victory of the Iraqis is the victory of humanity in the face of the threat that has terrified the region and the world. Today, terrorism no longer has a foothold in Iraq, and its remnants have nothing but defeat and flight before our armed forces."
He added, "Our forces are crushing terrorists wherever they find them, and there are still those who are waiting for opportunities, delusional, to breathe life into the remaining terrorists. We must continue to confront alien ideas and everything that destroys our social and cultural values."
Al-Sudani continued, "We must also address all the gaps that enabled terrorism to infiltrate in 2014," stressing that "our Iraq has emerged strong, healthy, victorious, and determined to build, reconstruct, and develop."
The Prime Minister continued by saying: “We have continued to support and extend the power of law, achieve justice, rebuild the liberated areas, support their people, and return all their residents to their land,” explaining that “the victory of the Iraqis over the defeated ISIS gangs is a confirmation of the importance of the unity of the ranks of our people.”
He stressed the "necessity of warning against the danger of suspicious calls that aim to obstruct the wheel of life that the heroes of victory created with their sacrifices," noting that "Iraq's cities have become a workshop for reconstruction and progress."
Al-Sudani also warned "against the consequences of fueling conflicts that produce more destruction and causes of wars, urging the delegation of terrorism to cross the border into Iraq, and we defeated it with great sacrificeS.
The Ministry of Commerce noted the achievement of advanced rates in updating the electronic card in Wasit Governorate after a week of updating operations in the governorate’s regions.
She pointed out the launch of a registration application to update citizens’ data for the ration card, as the program requests four determinants: the ration card number, the ration center number, the agency number for the food agent, and the agency number for the flour agent. After that, the citizen logs in to create his own account, then a message is sent to the citizen’s phone number, including the username and password, and then the update begins from the same system.
The ministry’s spokesman, Mohammed Hanoun, confirmed in a statement that: “The data update operations for the electronic ration card in Wasit Governorate are proceeding smoothly and with broad participation from the governorate’s residents,” noting that “the update rate has reached 33%, while the number of updated individuals has reached 524,270 individuals, and the number of updated families has reached 114,505 families.”
Hanoun said, “The Citizen Program will also help citizens submit their transactions from their homes without the need to visit the supply branch departments. These services will be paid for electronically, such as adding a child, adding an individual, adding a family, deleting, blocking, or unblocking, and other activities. The data update process will be accompanied by a media campaign to educate citizens and train them on how to use the applications on their mobile phone
