Iraq shuts down airspace as Iran begins attack on Israel

Baghdad – Iraq announced late on Saturday it was closing its airspace and suspending all air traffic after neighbouring Iran launched a drone attack on Israel.

“Iraq’s airspace has been closed and air traffic has been halted”, Transport Minister Razzak al-Saadawi told state news agency INA. The Civil Aviation Authority said the closure would last from 11:30 pm (2030 GMT) until 5:30 am (0230 GMT).

"RV UPDATE" BY GOLDILOCKS, 14 APRIL

 GOLDILOCKS

Chapter 2 assesses vulnerabilities and potential risks to financial stability in private credit, a rapidly growing asset class—traditionally focused on providing loans to mid-sized firms outside the realms of either commercial banks or public debt markets—that now rivals other major credit markets in size. The chapter identifies important vulnerabilities arising from relatively fragile borrowers, a growing share of semi-liquid investment vehicles, multiple layers of leverage, stale and potentially subjective valuations, and unclear connections between participants. If private credit remains opaque and continues to grow exponentially under limited prudential oversight, these vulnerabilities could become systemic.

Given the potential risks posed by this fast-growing and interconnected asset class, authorities could consider a more proactive supervisory and regulatory approach to private credit. It is key to close data gaps and enhance reporting requirements to comprehensively assess risks. Authorities should closely monitor and address liquidity and conduct risks in funds—especially retail—that may be faced with higher redemption risks.

Kirkuk Turkmen regarding the formation of the local government: not yet decided

Jassim Muhammad Jaafar, the head of the Turkmen component, disclosed the most recent changes in the governorate’s local government structure today, Saturday.

Leader Jaafar stated that “they have not yet reached a final solution regarding forming the government and choosing the new governor,” adding that “discussions are still ongoing between the political forces that won the local elections in Kirkuk Governorate.”

He said, “There is a proposal regarding the exchange of power between the components of Kirkuk, which was rejected by some parties in the province.”

Jaafar stated, “The issue of Kirkuk Governorate is thorny and complex in light of the intransigence of all parties, especially the Kurds, regarding the right to administer the local government.”

Due to equal representation among its constituent parts, Kirkuk Governorate suffers from not being able to designate the party that would oversee its local administration.

If you don't like what they [Chase Bank] have got, then go somewhere else...And when you go somewhere else you already studied the bank...vetted...looked at their portfolio...know their officers...know their structure...know how they're going to take care of your money...invest your money right?  If you say no to any of those questions you're in trouble because the leeches and parasites...vultures sense you, once the sharks know that there's chum in the water, they're going to circle you.  They're going to tear you apart.

'Hey, MC Hammer...You Can't Touch This.  You can't touch my money Frank.'  How much money do you have?  $200 million...How much you have now?  Nothing...[this] is the situation we will be facing very soon.  You're going to be attacked...You don't like Chase, make sure you check out where you're going carefully...

Suadni got on the airplane when you guys were asleep and went to Washington.   But here's the thing, Sudani left with an entourage the size of about I think 3 airplanes or more.  Sudani is going with an amazing group of people...his whole cabinet...board of directors from the CBI, every important person ever part of their monetary reform process.  They are all going...He's going for a week.  Sudani is going to see Biden for one hour and the other 6 days and 23 hours are going to be spend on the reforms of Iraq.

My gut feeling is they're going to re-denominate and then change the exchange rate right after that to where it should be, somewhere around $3 and something cents per dinar.  I've got 5 million.  If it goes to $3 and something, I made $15,000.  I'm a happy camper with that.  It's better than not having anything .  I understand for a lot of you you're like, 'No. No. NO. that's not good because that's not what I had in mind.'  And I'm sorry but you're asking me my opinion.  That is my opinion.  They will re-denominate the currency, LOP off the zeros - your 25,000 dinar will become 25 and then they'll reinstate the old rate...

Nearly everybody [In Iraq] earns less than $2,500/month.  75% of the population makes less than $770/month.  50% of them earn $540/month or less.  And 25% of them earn less than $400/month.  This is your average monthly salaries over there in Iraq...Labor over there is cheap.
