Iraqi prime minister calls for establishing a Palestinian fund, 22 OCT

Shafaq News/ Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani called for establishing a fund dedicated to addressing the plight of the Palestinian people as he met with Arab and European leaders on the sidelines of the Cairo Peace Conference earlier today, Saturday.

A press release issued by his bureau said that Prime Minister al-Sudani and Jordanian King Abdullah II discussed the ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip and the dire circumstances experienced by the Palestinian people as they grapple with heavy bombardment, massive casualties, and shortage of medical supplies.

During the meeting, Prime Minister al-Sudani underscored the importance of concerted efforts to halt the Israeli aggression in alignment with the Iraqi initiative, alleviate its adverse consequences, and establish a dedicated fund to provide essential assistance to the Palestinian people while safeguarding their fundamental rights.

While in Cairo, Prime Minister al-Sudani also held talks with Charles Michel, the President of the European Council.

The meeting touched on the grave developments in Gaza and the pressing need to take necessary actions to mitigate the continuance of hostilities and prevent further loss of lives.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's unwavering rejection of Israeli aggression, which continues to target civilians and violate international humanitarian law. He highlighted Iraq's initiative aimed at achieving a swift cessation of hostilities and the creation of secure corridors.

Al-Sudani and Michel discussed ways to develop the ties between Iraq and the European Union, underpinned by their strategic partnership agreement.

Michel expressed his support for Iraq's role in bridging differences and advocating a dialogue-based approach in the region. He also voiced strong opposition to the displacement of Palestinians due to its potential far-reaching and hazardous consequences, emphasizing that such actions would impede prospects for a lasting resolution.

Al-Sudani, Macron call for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

Shafaq News / Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, the opening of humanitarian corridors for aid delivery to the besieged residents of Gaza, and concerted action to prevent further escalation.

The Iraqi Prime Minister's office, in a statement, confirmed that Al-Sudani received a phone call from President Macron, focusing on the rapid developments in the region and the grave incidents unfolding in the occupied Palestinian territories due to the continued assaults by Zionist occupation authorities on civilians in the Gaza Strip. The conversation underscored the importance of ongoing efforts to find swift resolutions to the ongoing crisis.

Both leaders highlighted the serious repercussions of the ongoing events on regional and international peace and security. They agreed to continue communication and joint efforts to secure an immediate ceasefire, contain the conflict, and work towards comprehensive and just solutions.

Al-Sudani stressed that the crisis did not begin on October 7th of this year but is deeply rooted, spanning decades of non-compliance with international laws and legitimacy by the occupation authorities. These authorities have subjected an entire population to unjust imprisonment, creating a profound sense of oppression and injustice within Palestine and beyond.

President Macron emphasized the necessity of serious action to prevent the conflict from spreading and shield civilians from the consequences of further escalation.

Both leaders agreed on the imperative to secure an immediate ceasefire, open humanitarian corridors for aid delivery to the besieged residents of Gaza, prevent further escalation, and halt the humanitarian suffering in Gaza.

A Representative Calls For Stopping The Dollar's Dominance In Iraq, 22 oct

A Representative Calls For Stopping The Dollar's Dominance In Iraq

Politics   10/22/2023 Number of readings: 168   Baghdad - Iraq Today:  Representative Hussein Habib identified the most important ways to end the dominance of the dollar in Iraqi markets.

Habib said in a press interview, “There are several steps to end the dominance of the dollar in Iraqi markets, the most prominent of which is reviving the national industry in all its dimensions in order to fill the large void in the import balance, especially Since the largest percentage of the markets’ needs depend on abroad even for the simplest matters, including crops.” "agricultural".

He added, “Restoring industry and agriculture according to a vision that includes three dimensions: sufficiency and developing production to achieve leaps in the balance of exports and imports will reduce dependence on the dollar at high rates, and thus ensure an end to its dominance. However, the matter requires comprehensive dimensions, the most prominent of which is providing means of support for the advancement of industry and agriculture.” Reducing financial burdens from taxes and offering their exemption contributions to attracting capital and internal and external investments.”

He pointed out that "reviving the industry does not stop reducing the dominance of the dollar, but rather providing great job opportunities, especially since the economic conditions have created armies of the unemployed in most Iraqi governorates." LINK

"IRAQ BOOTS ON THE GROUND REPORT" BY FIREFLY, 22 OCT

 Frank26 (KTFA)

The goal is to get to 1 to 1 for what reason?  To add purchasing power.  There is the key, to add purchasing power to the currency of Iraq.  I didn’t say the Iraqi citizens are going to get rich.  I said to add purchasing power to buy good and services with their currency

FIREFLY: There’s a restaurant coming into Iraq.  It’s called Johnny Rockets. It’s a burger join.

FRANK: I told you the whole world is pouring in…When you stop and think about it, those places that are coming into your country, they’re either stupid or they know exactly what the monetary reform is about to do for them and you Iraqi citizens…

Question:
“Many years ago Dr. Shabibi said the dinar would be able to support it up to $16. Would that still be true for the RI?”

No, it’s far past that but it would be illogical to come out at $16 or $28 or whatever. You need that margin for the float.   You don’t need it to show off.  That’s what Kuwait did and they realized their mistake…The next day they brought it back down very quickly.  It gave a window for sharks and whales…and they made massive amount of money.  Obviously it was done on purpose.  And obviously the IMF doesn’t allow that to happen again.

Gaza Crisis: A Call for Genuine Diplomacy and Humanitarian Aid, 22 OCT

Gaza Crisis: A Call for Genuine Diplomacy and Humanitarian Aid, 22 OCT

In the heart of the Middle East, a humanitarian crisis unfolds, a crisis of lives, liberty, and dignity, with Gaza as its epicenter. The long-standing conflict between Israel and Hamas has now reached a critical point, leaving the residents of Gaza gasping for basic needs – food, water, medical care, and shelter.

Aid Amidst Acrimony

The United States, together with Egypt and Israel, has facilitated the delivery of a 20-truck convoy bearing much-needed humanitarian aid to Gaza, the first since Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7. Yet, this is but a drop in the ocean. The international community is gradually addressing the crisis, but the demand still far outstrips the supply.

Former Ambassador of India to Jordan and Libya, Anil Trigunayat, underscores the need for a genuine diplomatic effort by credible interlocutors to resolve the Gaza crisis. Trigunayat criticizes subjective and presumptive diplomacy, arguing that it only serves to disrupt the peace processes. In the light of this, it’s imperative for the international community to work in unison to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza and ensure that it reaches those in need.

Obstacles to Aid

However, the delivery of aid to Gaza is not without its challenges. Israel has expressed concerns that the aid could be used to smuggle weapons and munitions to Hamas. This concern delayed the shipment of aid for days. Adding to the woes, the Israeli military is blocking fuel from entering Gaza, resulting in the shutdown of hospitals and health care clinics. The World Health Organization has stated that much more aid is needed to address the escalating health needs in Gaza.

Global Response to the Crisis

UN chief Antonio Guterres has called for a humanitarian ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas. He described the situation in Gaza as a ‘humanitarian catastrophe’ and called for action to end the violence. Leaders from Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Spain, and the Palestinian Authority convened in Cairo to discuss the crisis. However, Israel criticized the summit participants for failing to condemn Hamas for its alleged massacres.

China has also been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to mediate the Israel-Hamas conflict. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has held several discussions with counterparts from the Muslim world to address the crisis. China has called for a united stand from Arab and Islamic countries in resolving the crisis and has supported a two-state solution to the conflict.

The ongoing crisis in Gaza calls for a genuine diplomatic effort by credible interlocutors to evolve a resolution. The international community must join hands to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza, ensuring it reaches those who need it most. The situation in Gaza is a humanitarian catastrophe, and urgent action is needed to end the violence and address the needs of the people in Gaza.
