Parliamentary Finance: The Council of Ministers will send the 2024 budget to Parliament next week

The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed today, Wednesday, that the Council of Ministers will send the financial budget law for 2024 to the House of Representatives next week.

The head of the committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, said in a statement followed by Al-Mutala’, that: “The Council of Ministers will hold a session next week during which it will present the federal budget law for the year 2024 and will set the schedules to be changed in the budget,” pointing out that “the law will be sent to the House of Representatives next week.”

Al-Atwani added, “The budget texts are supposed to include the appointment of 2020 lecturers and standards readers in the Ministry of Electricity,” indicating that “those segments do not cost the state large sums of money during their appointment.”

Yesterday, Monday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee announced the resumption of its meetings with the beginning of the new legislative term to discuss a number of topics related to its legislative and oversight work, indicating that it is awaiting the arrival of the General Budget Law for the year 2024 to make the necessary amendments to its schedules.

An expanded meeting was held last Wednesday, headed by the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, and in the presence of the Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, and the Minister of Oil and Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Government, Kamal Muhammad, to discuss the mechanisms for preparing the 2024 budget schedules on both sides. Operational and investment, in light of oil prices and the revenues expected to be achieved during this year.
