A group headed by the minister of communications has been tasked by the Iraqi government to negotiate the introduction of a 5G mobile telecoms service with major international telecom providers.
The group will concentrate on choosing a business that has demonstrated experience in developing, running, and overseeing 5G networks.
Businesses with a solid international reputation and Middle Eastern experience have shown interest in operating in Iraq; operational knowledge, brand reputation, and quality will be given top priority throughout the selection process.
The Iraqi Cabinet decided last year that the Al-Salam State Company, a division of the Ministry of Communications, would be given a three-year exclusive national license for 5G mobile technology by the Communications and Media Commission (CMC).
