"HONG Kong launched a pilot programme enabling digital yuan payments through major Chinese banks, the first example of China’s currency project being deployed beyond the mainland.

Residents of the city can now open digital yuan wallets with Bank of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to pay merchants in mainland China directly, Hong Kong’s de facto central bank said in a statement on Friday (May 17)."

Hong Kong has officially launched a pilot program that will allow them to utilize the Yuan as a form of payments. 

Users can use the FPS payment system. FPS stands for Faster Payments Service. FPS is a UK banking initiative allowing real-time electronic fund transfers between banks.

Al-Allaq announces the success of the electronic transfer platform in combating money laundering

On Thursday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Al-Alaq, announced the success of using the electronic external transfer platform to combat money laundering.

This came during Al-Allaq’s participation in the Arab Forum for Anti-Corruption Bodies and Financial Investigation Units in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to a statement issued by the Central Bank media. 

Al-Alaq delivered a speech about the efforts of the Central Bank of Iraq to spread financial transparency and collect information about the true beneficiary and exchange it at the international level, stressing the recent measures taken by the Central Bank of Iraq represented by the use of the electronic external transfer platform, which effectively contributed to determining the identity of the true beneficiary and prevented the use of external transfers. As a means of money laundering operations.

He pointed out that the use of the cash sales platform contributed to the arrival of foreign currency to the real beneficiaries who are travelers or students outside Iraq, as well as other cases that need foreign currency according to the law.

The head of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, also participated in the same forum, and Iraq's measures to combat corruption and their role in achieving development and economic growth will be presented.

Hanoun pointed out that international reports spoke of growth in the Iraqi economy represented by an increase in domestic product, an increase in non-oil revenues, and a decline in inflation.

The head of the authority warned that corruption causes a decline in investment rates and a general budget deficit.

 Yeah, IMO the hunger for the Iraqi dinar is great and the investors are almost endless.  I believe when it floats it'll be like getting gunpowder on fire.  It'll move fast...Within 3 months you're going to see a significant change.  Within 6 months it may be done.  I hope that within a year they'll cap it...IMO $3.86 to $4.25.

  The CBI desperately wants these three zero notes back...If you exchange your dinars at an American  bank those dinars go to our federal reserves and boy we will capitalize on it because it'll be a different rate but if we go to a  private [Iraqi] bank those dinars go to the CBI. That's what the CBI wants so badly.  Wait till you find out how many banks they  got!  They're smart.  They're covering all their bases.

 Forgive me that I jumped the gun and told you, hey this represent the lower denoms [fils] in paper form [it was a 5000 note]...The colors were wrong...The color is what threw us off.  I apologize...What we taught was 100% true [though]...The CBI is teaching the Iraqi citizens about lower notes...coins...They're also teaching about fils, the coins, in paper form.  

Question: "Do you think the rate will be on Forex?"  Yeah!  The Forex will be one of the very first to receive it.

This [these new 1000 dinar fil notes] guarantees there is a change in the Iraq dinar exchange rate because if not there's no reason for these fils whether they be in coin form or paper form. It's illogical.  There's not reason for it...These fils paper or coins and the exchange rate are not activated yet.  They are all in the background waiting for when Sudani says it's time.

💢In Iraq: ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan24 reporter Shivan Jabari in Baghdad said on Saturday that a fight broke out in the Iraqi parliament over selecting a new speaker.

In an attempt to control the brawl, security forces entered the parliament hall, and several members of parliament were injured.

Iraqi parliament speaker nominations include Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, Salem Matar al-Issawi, Talal Zubai, and Amir Abdul Jabbar.

According to the Kurdistan24 reporter, the session of parliament to elect the speaker of parliament was postponed indefinitely.

Meanwhile, all four candidates failed to win 166 out of 329 votes in the first round of voting, so voting went to the second round. In the second round, the competition was between al-Mashhadani and al-Issawi, but the second round ended without selecting anyone, and in the third round, a fight broke out.

The votes in the second round were as follows: Mahmoud al-Mashhadani 137 votes, al-Issawi 158 votes, and Jabbar 3 votes.
