๐Ÿ“ฐ NEWS SUMMARY

Iraq’s State Administration Coalition warned about the potential impact of U.S. sanctions while highlighting the country’s difficult financial situation.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ Iraq needs to protect:
๐Ÿ’ต Oil revenues
๐Ÿฆ Banking stability
๐Ÿ’ฑ IQD stability
๐ŸŒŽ International financial access

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE BIGGER PICTURE

With banking reforms, cash reduction, digitalization, and “Delete the Zeros” all part of Iraq’s broader financial transformation, external pressure could increase the urgency to complete these reforms.

Could this help pave the way for a stronger monetary system — and eventually a stronger IQD? ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ“ˆ

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ต IQD CASH COLLECTION: THE NECESSARY STEP TO REVALUE THE DINAR AT A HIGHER RATE

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ต IQD CASH COLLECTION — THE BIG PICTURE

๐Ÿ”ฅ MY HYPOTHESIS: Before the CBI can make a major move toward a much higher IQD rate, Iraq may first need to reduce the massive amount of physical dinar circulating outside the banks.

๐Ÿ’ต WHY IT MATTERS:

๐Ÿฆ More IQD back into banks
๐Ÿ” Greater monetary visibility
๐Ÿ“Š Better control of money supply
๐Ÿ”„ Retirement/replacement of old notes
๐Ÿ“ฒ More digital transactions
๐ŸŒŽ Greater financial integration

๐Ÿ”ข DELETE THE ZEROS ≠ RV

Removing 3 zeros would change:

1,000 old IQD → 1 new IQD

It changes the denomination — not automatically the purchasing power.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE BIGGER PICTURE:

๐Ÿ’ต Cash Collection
⬇️
๐Ÿฆ Banking Reform
⬇️
๐Ÿ“ฒ Digitalization
⬇️
๐Ÿ“Š Money-Supply Control
⬇️
๐Ÿ”ข Delete the Zeros
⬇️
๐ŸŒŽ International Integration
⬇️
๐Ÿ“ˆ Potential Rate Reform

⚠️ And here's the key:

CASH REDUCTION ≠ M2 REDUCTION

If cash simply moves into bank deposits, the money hasn't disappeared.

But if both cash outside banks AND M2 decline significantly, that's a much bigger monetary contraction.

๐ŸŽฏ WHAT I'M WATCHING:

๐Ÿ’ต Currency outside banks ↓
๐Ÿ“Š M2 ↓
๐Ÿ’ฐ Reserves ↑
๐Ÿฆ Banking ↑
๐Ÿ“ฒ Digital payments ↑
๐ŸŒŽ International integration ↑

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ MY BOTTOM LINE:

The story may not be simply “DELETE THE ZEROS.”

It could be:

CASH COLLECTION + BANKING REFORM + DIGITALIZATION + MONEY-SUPPLY CONTROL + STRONG RESERVES + INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION

➡️ MONETARY RESTRUCTURING FIRST.
➡️ THE RATE COMES AFTER.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE RATE IS THE END OF THE EQUATION — THE MONETARY STRUCTURE COMES FIRST.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿšจ IRAQ TODAY: POLITICAL GRIDLOCK, SECURITY PRESSURE & THE ROAD AHEAD ๐Ÿ›️๐Ÿ”ซ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ“ˆ

๐Ÿ“ฐ NEWS SUMMARY

Iraq’s Coordination Framework is scheduled to hold its weekly meeting as major political disagreements continue to delay the completion of the government.

According to the report, one of the main obstacles involves disagreements over the appointment of deputy prime ministers. At the same time, a proposal is reportedly emerging to delay weapons collection until after Coalition forces withdraw from Iraq. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ”ซ

This puts several sensitive issues on the table at the same time:

๐Ÿ›️ Government formation
๐Ÿ”ซ Weapons under state control
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Coalition withdrawal
๐Ÿ’ฐ Financial stability
๐ŸŒŽ Iraq’s international relationships

๐Ÿ”Ž ANALYSIS — THE BIGGER PICTURE

Iraq is currently navigating several major transitions simultaneously.

The country needs political stability to move efficiently on its economic and financial agenda. At the same time, Iraq is under pressure regarding security issues, weapons control, and its relationship with the United States.

This matters because prolonged political uncertainty can make major economic reforms more difficult to implement.

But there is another important side to the story. ๐Ÿ‘€

While these political negotiations continue, Iraq is also working on significant financial reforms:

๐Ÿฆ Modernizing the banking sector
๐Ÿ’ต Reducing cash circulating outside banks
๐Ÿ“ฒ Expanding electronic payments
๐Ÿ” Strengthening financial controls
๐ŸŒŽ Increasing international financial integration
๐Ÿ”ข Continuing discussions surrounding “Delete the Zeros”

๐Ÿ”ฅ WHY THIS MATTERS FOR THE IQD

A stronger currency requires much more than simply changing an exchange-rate number.

Iraq needs:

✅ Stronger banks
✅ Greater control over the money supply
✅ Stable international reserves
✅ Controlled inflation
✅ Fiscal discipline
✅ Political stability
✅ International confidence

That is why today’s political developments deserve attention.

The potential progression could look like:

๐Ÿ›️ POLITICAL STABILITY
⬇️
๐Ÿฆ BANKING REFORM
⬇️
๐Ÿ’ต CASH REDUCTION
⬇️
๐Ÿ“Š GREATER MONETARY CONTROL
⬇️
๐Ÿ”ข MONETARY RESTRUCTURING / DELETE THE ZEROS
⬇️
๐ŸŒŽ DEEPER INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL INTEGRATION
⬇️
๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ“ˆ POTENTIAL FUTURE IQD APPRECIATION

⚠️ BUT HERE IS THE KEY POINT

None of today’s political developments confirm an imminent IQD revaluation.

The real question is whether Iraq can successfully resolve its political and security challenges while continuing the financial reforms already underway.

If Iraq can reduce political friction, strengthen its banking system, bring more cash into the formal economy, improve financial transparency, and maintain international confidence, it could create a much stronger foundation for the IQD.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ก THE BIGGER STORY IS THE FOUNDATION

Iraq is dealing with:

๐Ÿ›️ Government formation
๐Ÿ”ซ Security and weapons control
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Relations with the United States
๐Ÿฆ Banking reform
๐Ÿ’ต Cash reduction
๐Ÿ“ฒ Digitalization
๐Ÿ”ข Monetary restructuring
๐ŸŒŽ International financial integration

All of these pieces matter.

๐Ÿ‘€ So the question is not simply:

“WHEN WILL IRAQ CHANGE THE VALUE OF THE DINAR?”

The more important question may be:

“CAN IRAQ COMPLETE THE POLITICAL, BANKING AND MONETARY RESTRUCTURING NEEDED TO SUPPORT A STRONGER CURRENCY?”

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ“ˆ THE FOUNDATION COMES BEFORE THE RATE.

My take is that Iran, some Iraqi political forces, and Iran-backed militias appear to be pushing back hard against U.S. pressure, particularly over the agreed timeline for bringing these militias under state control.

Reports indicate that some factions are seeking to delay or condition disarmament, including tying it to the withdrawal of U.S. forces.

The big question is: Will Al-Zaidi accept this—and more importantly, will the United States accept it? ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

If Baghdad fails to meet its commitments, the consequences could extend beyond security and politics into Iraq’s financial system, international relationships, and economic reform agenda.

⚠️ This is economic and geopolitical analysis, not confirmation of an IQD RV or any specific future exchange rate.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ฐ IRAQ'S CASH PROBLEM, DELETE THE ZEROS & THE FUTURE OF THE IQD

๐Ÿ“ฐ NEWS SUMMARY

The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) says it is continuing reforms to strengthen the banking sector, support the national economy and increase Iraq's integration with the international financial system.

Governor Nizar Naser Hussein said the next phase is expected to bring further developments and greater integration with the global financial system.

The broader reform agenda includes banking modernization, stronger financial controls, digitalization and reducing Iraq's dependence on physical cash.

And one point is particularly interesting: the monetary reform process could help the CBI determine how much money is actually circulating in the economy.

That raises a bigger question:

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ Could reducing Iraq's enormous cash circulation be an important step before a major monetary restructuring or RV ?

I believe it is a question worth examining.

๐Ÿ’ต THE CASH PROBLEM

At roughly:

$1 ≈ 1,300 IQD

large amounts of value require enormous quantities of banknotes.

For example:

$1 million ≈ 1.3 billion IQD

Using 25,000 IQD notes:

$1 million ≈ 52,000 banknotes.

That is a massive amount of physical currency.

For a country trying to modernize its banking system and integrate more deeply into international finance, reducing dependence on cash is therefore logical.

๐Ÿ”ข WHERE DOES “DELETE THE ZEROS” FIT?

This distinction is essential:

DELETE THE ZEROS ≠ REVALUATION

If Iraq removes three zeros:

1,000 old IQD = 1 new IQD

Then approximately:

198.8 trillion old IQD → 198.8 billion new IQD.

But this does not automatically increase purchasing power.

If the old rate is approximately:

$1 = 1,300 old IQD

then the equivalent post-redenomination rate would be:

$1 = 1.30 new IQD.

The denomination changes. The underlying purchasing power does not automatically change.

๐Ÿง  THE REAL QUESTION

The more important question may not be:

“How many zeros will Iraq remove?”

It may be:

“How much money will actually remain in circulation after the restructuring or DELETE ZEROS?”

A successful reform could involve:

๐Ÿ’ต Retiring old banknotes

๐Ÿฆ Moving cash into banks

๐Ÿ“ฒ Expanding digital payments

๐Ÿ” Increasing financial transparency

๐Ÿ“Š Improving measurement of M0, M1 and M2

๐ŸŒŽ Increasing international banking integration

But there is an important distinction:

CASH REDUCTION ≠ M2 REDUCTION

If someone deposits 10 million IQD into a bank, cash outside banks falls, but deposits rise.

The money may simply have moved from:

cash → bank deposits.

Therefore, I would watch M2 very carefully.

If cash falls while M2 remains stable, that is mainly financial modernization.

If cash falls and M2 also declines substantially, then we are seeing something much more significant:

A genuine contraction in the overall money supply.

๐Ÿ“Š THE 198.8 BILLION QUESTION

Suppose Delete the Zeros produces:

198.8 billion new IQD

Now imagine the monetary structure is subsequently reduced:

  • 25% reduction → 149.1 billion IQD
  • 50% reduction → 99.4 billion IQD
  • 60% reduction → 79.5 billion IQD
  • 70% reduction → 59.6 billion IQD

These are illustrations, not forecasts.

But they demonstrate something important.

At:

$1 per IQD

198.8 billion IQD represents:

$198.8 billion

while:

100 billion IQD represents:

$100 billion

and:

60 billion IQD represents:

$60 billion.

The monetary burden is dramatically different.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE BIG HYPOTHESIS

This leads to an interesting economic possibility:

Could the CBI be trying to reduce cash and reorganize the monetary system BEFORE any major future change in the value of the dinar OR RV?

From an economic perspective:

YES, THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE.

But this must remain a hypothesis.

The CBI has not publicly stated that its cash-reduction program is specifically designed to prepare for an IQD revaluation.

What we can observe is that several reforms point in the same direction:

Banking reform

⬇️

Cash reduction

⬇️

Digitalization

⬇️

Greater financial transparency

⬇️

Better control of the money supply

⬇️

Currency reform

⬇️

International financial integration

That sequence is economically logical.

๐Ÿฆ WHY WOULD THIS MATTER FOR THE IQD?

A stronger currency cannot sustainably be created simply by changing a number.

It requires:

๐Ÿ’ฐ Strong reserves

๐Ÿ“‰ Controlled inflation

๐Ÿฆ Strong banks

๐ŸŒŽ International confidence

๐Ÿ“Š Credible monetary policy

๐Ÿ›️ Fiscal discipline

๐Ÿ›ข️ Sustainable external revenues

๐Ÿ“ˆ Genuine demand for the currency

Iraq has a major advantage:

๐Ÿ›ข️ OIL

But it also has a major structural weakness:

⚠️ HEAVY OIL DEPENDENCE AND FISCAL PRESSURES

Therefore, “Iraq has oil, so the dinar can automatically become extremely valuable” is far too simplistic.

Money supply, reserves, fiscal policy, inflation, economic output and demand for IQD all matter.

๐Ÿ’ต WHAT WOULD $1 PER NEW IQD MEAN?

After a hypothetical three-zero redenomination:

$1 ≈ 1.30 new IQD

or:

1 new IQD ≈ $0.77

If the new rate became:

1 IQD = $1

that would represent approximately a 30% appreciation from the redenominated equivalent.

It would not be a 1,300-fold increase.

However:

$5 per IQD

or:

$10 per IQD

would be an entirely different economic proposition.

That is why I would be very cautious with claims about extremely high future rates.

๐Ÿ” WHAT I WOULD WATCH

If this monetary-restructuring thesis is developing, these indicators matter:

1️⃣ CURRENCY OUTSIDE BANKS ↓

Is physical cash outside banks actually declining?

2️⃣ M2 ↓

Is total broad money declining, or is cash simply becoming deposits?

3️⃣ RESERVES ↑

Are CBI international reserves remaining strong?

4️⃣ FISCAL DEFICIT ↓

Is Iraq improving fiscal discipline?

5️⃣ BANKING ↑

Are more citizens and companies using formal banking channels?

6️⃣ DIGITAL PAYMENTS ↑

Is the economy becoming structurally less dependent on cash?

7️⃣ INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION ↑

Are Iraqi banks establishing deeper relationships with international financial institutions?

๐Ÿงฉ THE BIGGER PICTURE

I don't think the most interesting story is simply:

“Iraq will delete three zeros.”

The bigger story could potentially be:

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ BANKING REFORM

⬇️

๐Ÿ’ต CASH REDUCTION

⬇️

๐Ÿฆ BANKING PENETRATION

⬇️

๐Ÿ“ฒ DIGITALIZATION

⬇️

๐Ÿ” GREATER TRACEABILITY

⬇️

๐Ÿ“Š BETTER CONTROL OF THE MONEY SUPPLY

⬇️

๐Ÿ’ด DENOMINATION REFORM

⬇️

๐Ÿ’ต RETIREMENT OF OLD BANKNOTES

⬇️

๐ŸŒŽ INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL INTEGRATION

⬇️

๐Ÿ“ˆ A MORE EFFICIENT MONETARY STRUCTURE

⬇️

AND ONLY IF THE FUNDAMENTALS SUPPORT IT — A POTENTIAL FUTURE APPRECIATION OF THE IQD OR RV.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ก FINAL THOUGHT

The question I believe deserves the most attention is not simply:

“What will the IQD exchange rate be?”

The question that comes before it is:

“How much money will actually be circulating when Iraq reaches the point of a potential exchange-rate reform OR RV?”

There is a huge difference between:

198.8 billion new IQD

and:

100 billion

or:

60 billion.

The quantity and composition of money matter.

That is why the CBI's effort to reduce cash may be far more important than it first appears.

๐Ÿ”ฅ THE REAL STORY MAY NOT BE DELETE THE ZEROS ALONE.

It could be:

DELETE THE ZEROS + RETIRE OLD CASH + BANKING + DIGITALIZATION + MONEY-SUPPLY CONTROL + STRONG RESERVES + FISCAL REFORM + INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION.

If those elements advance together, Iraq would not simply be changing the denominations printed on its banknotes.

It would be restructuring the monetary system itself.

And only after that restructuring would it make sense to seriously evaluate what exchange rate the new monetary system could sustainably support.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ถ๐Ÿ’ต THE RATE IS THE END OF THE EQUATION — THE MONETARY STRUCTURE COMES FIRST.

⚠️ This is economic analysis and a hypothetical scenario, not confirmation of an IQD revaluation or any specific future exchange rate.
