Informed Iraqi sources revealed a convergence between Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi and U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the file of confiscating the weapons of Iran-allied armed factions, and the new period proposed by Iraq to complete the file. The newspaper «Al-Araby Al-Jadeed» quoted an informed Iraqi government source as saying that the meeting that brought together Al-Zaidi and Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York was positive and reflected a convergence regarding the weapon confiscation file. According to the source, Al-Zaidi affirmed during the meeting his commitment to confining weapons to the hands of the state, while Trump expressed his readiness to continue supporting the efforts of the Iraqi Prime Minister to complete this file.
