#BREAKING: Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali al-Zaidi announced that Sinjar (Shingal) resistance factions (YBS) will begin handing over their weapons to the state, with Mount Sinjar to come under the full authority of the federal government and its security and administrative institutions.
The announcement came during Al-Zaidi’s meeting on Friday with a leadership delegation from the Yazidi Cause Alliance.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has announced that the YBS (Sinjar Resistance Units) will begin handing over its weapons to the Iraqi state.
At the same time, Mount Sinjar will come fully under the authority of the federal government, including its security and administrative institutions.
🔥 Why is this important?
This is one of the clearest examples so far of an armed faction moving toward state control of its weapons.
And the timing is significant.
Iraq is currently working on a nationwide framework for weapons outside state control, while pressure is increasing on Baghdad to bring all armed groups under the authority of the government.
This does not mean all Iraqi militias have agreed to disarm.
But it could establish a precedent and a model that Baghdad may try to apply elsewhere.
