A member of the Iraqi Parliament is calling on the government to stop delaying several priority laws and officially submit them to Parliament.

A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT DEMANDS THE GOVERNMENT SEND THE LAWS ON THE POPULAR MOBILIZATION FORCES, OIL AND GAS, AND THE SALARY SCALE TO PARLIAMENT: “DELAY IS UNACCEPTABLE.”
The head of the National Statement Alliance and member of Parliament, Abdul Amir al-Mayahi, affirmed the existence of several priority laws that cannot be postponed within Parliament, urging the government to expedite their submission for enactment.
Al-Mayahi stated that “the Popular Mobilization Forces Law is a very important law, and the government must submit it,” noting that the Oil and Gas Law is also among the important laws awaiting Parliament.
He added, “There was a request from the government in the previous session to submit the Oil and Gas Law, but it was not submitted,” emphasizing the necessity of moving forward with this matter.
Regarding the salary scale, al-Mayahi explained, “We are also waiting for the government to address the salary scale to ensure fairness for state employees and achieve equality,” indicating that this issue is of great importance given the continuous demands from employees and the Iraqi people for the adoption of a unified salary scale. He added, “There are numerous demands and voices from employees and the Iraqi people constantly calling for a salary scale,” urging the government to finalize the related procedures and submit it to Parliament. He noted that “the previous government started but did not complete it,” calling on the current government to “finalize the remaining aspects of the salary scale and send it to Parliament.”
Al-Mayahi reiterated the importance of the oil and gas law, while also pointing to other laws, including the recovery law, as well as the settlement and recovery law and the establishment of a settlement fund, which he said the government is serious and eager to submit to Parliament.
