Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on Sunday that his country, along with the Iraqi government, will do its utmost to keep the region away from the specter of war.

The minister said in a statement to reporters upon his arrival in Baghdad, "We do not want war and we do not want provocations, but we are fully prepared to confront them."

He added, "We will make every effort, in consultation with the Iraqi government, to keep the region away from the specter of any war disaster."

Araghchi continued by saying: We highly appreciate the positions of the Iraqi government, the religious authority, and the Iraqi people in their rejection of the war in Gaza and Lebanon and their efforts to support the two peoples.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived earlier this afternoon in the capital, Baghdad, on an official visit that will not take long, during which he will meet with Iraqi officials to discuss developments in the region.

During his visit, which will last for a few hours, Araqchi will meet with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

An Iraqi source told Shafaq News Agency yesterday that Araghchi's visit to Baghdad comes to discuss developments in the security situation in the region and to emphasize not expanding the circle of war.

After concluding his visit to Iraq, Araghchi will head to the Omani capital, Muscat, to continue his regional consultations that he began last week.

The Iranian Foreign Minister visited both Qatar and Saudi Arabia at the end of last week in the context of consultations and coordination to stop the genocide and attacks in Gaza and Lebanon.
