Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi confirmed on Thursday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani's meetings with ambassadors of several countries are part of his ongoing efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Al-Awadi said in a post on the "X" platform that "the Prime Minister's meetings today with three ambassadors of major countries (America, Russia and China) are a continuous link in his ongoing efforts to stop the war in Gaza and Lebanon, prevent its expansion and maintain the stability of Iraq and the region." 

He explained that "the Prime Minister spoke frankly about the importance of activating the two positions (Chinese and Russian) and raising them to the level of the crisis in mobilizing the institutions of the international community and restoring their role in deterring aggression, preserving international peace, preventing the targeting of civilians and activating the mechanisms of relief programs for victims of the war."

He noted that "the Prime Minister asked his guests, the ambassadors of the permanent member states of the United Nations, to take positions on those who dared from some extremist media outlets to attack the position of the supreme religious authority."
