US Treasury places Khamis Al-Khanjar on sanctions list

The US Treasury Department, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), has placed the head of the Sovereignty Party, Khamis Al-Khanjar, on the sanctions list of known individuals and entities with whom dealings are prohibited.

 

According to the document, “The US Treasury Department, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), included the name of Khamis Farhan Ali al-Khanjar al-Issawi, born in Fallujah, Iraq, on the sanctions list of individuals and entities known as the “SDN List.”

 

The document showed that "Khamis Al-Khanjar is known by several aliases, which he tries to use."

 

The sanctions include asset freezes and prohibits U.S. companies and individuals from doing business with them. It also freezes any assets they may have in the United States and limits their access to the U.S. financial system.

 

According to the information contained in the list, Al-Khanjar holds Iraqi citizenship and a passport issued by Iraq, number D1022354, which expires on May 21, 2026.

 

It is worth noting that this listing comes within the framework of the sanctions program known as “GLOMAG” of the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
