Planning announces the completion of the five-year development plan from this year until 2028, 25 JULY

Planning Minister Mohamed Tamim announced on Wednesday that his ministry has completed the five-year development plan from the current year 2024 until 2028.

His ministry said in a statement, the network received 964 copies of it:

The Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, received today the Australian Ambassador to Iraq Glenn Myler and his accompanying delegation, where the meeting, which was attended by the Director General of International Cooperation, Saher Abdul Kadhim, witnessed the discussion of a number of issues and files of common interest.

During the meeting, the Minister of Planning praised Australia’s support for Iraq’s efforts in various fields of development.

The Iraqi government has set a package of priorities it is seeking to achieve within its government program.

Completing the five-year development plan for the years 2024-2028, and the priorities it included to achieve the goals of sustainable development, keeping pace with challenges, and optimizing the use of natural resources, foremost of which is rationalizing the use of water and combating desertification, and confronting climate change, by finding innovative solutions and treatments, as well as moving towards building integrated, environmentally friendly residential cities, and developing solutions and programs to address unemployment by encouraging employment in the private sector.

The plan aims to expand the field of renewable energy, take advantage of solar energy, provide electric energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and work on the establishment of 4 solar power plants in the governorates of Muthanna, Karbala, Anbar and Kirkuk.

The ministry’s preparations for conducting the general census of population and housing on November 20, and its strategic importance, in indicating development gaps, and drawing a picture of the Iraqi reality in all sectors of development.

Australian companies are invited to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Iraq in various sectors.

For his part, Myler praised the level of cooperation between the two countries, expressing his country’s readiness to strengthen and develop this cooperation, in the interest of the two friendly peoples.
