Political analyst Sabah Al-Aqili saw that the American side adopts a misleading method regarding the strategic agreement between Washington and Baghdad, pointing out that the demand of the Iraqi negotiating delegation to change the name of the advisors to combat forces does not fall within the powers of this delegation.
Al-Aqili said to Al-Maalouma, that “there are approximately five thousand American fighters with full equipment, mechanisms, and equipment located in the bases of Ain al-Assad, Harir, and Baghdad Airport, and there is evidence proving that what is present in Iraq are American military forces, not advisors.”
He added, “The American side adopts a misleading method regarding the strategic agreement with Baghdad and tries to evade its application on the ground, with the aim of serving its interests and ensuring the continued presence of its forces inside Iraq.”
And he indicated that “the delegation that headed to Washington, headed by Defense Minister Thabet al-Abbasi, does not have the authority to change the name of the American advisors inside Iraq to combat forces, as it violates the agreement between the Iraqi government and the American side.”
