The end of the U.S.-led Coalition’s military mission on September 30 marks a major turning point for Iraq.
PM Ali Al-Zaidi outlined six priorities:
🔹 Foreign force withdrawals
🔹 Peshmerga unification
🔹 Weapons under state control 🔫
🔹 Removal of foreign armed groups
🔹 National air-defense system ✈️
🔹 Economic diversification & protection of national wealth 💰
🌎 WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?
For Iraq, sovereignty is no longer being defined simply by the departure of foreign forces. The government is seeking greater control over its security, territory, weapons, airspace and economic resources.
🏛️ Stronger state institutions + ⚖️ rule of law + 💰 economic independence could help Iraq strengthen its position both domestically and within the international economy.
⚠️ The key now is implementation. Several of these goals are still ongoing processes.
