🇮🇶 IRAQ’S ARMED GROUPS FACE A NEW TEST AFTER THE U.S. EXIT 🇺🇸🔫

📰 NEWS SUMMARY

According to Channel8, the latest Coordination Framework meeting focused heavily on two armed groups that continue to reject disarmament, despite an earlier understanding with the Iraqi government.

The issue is becoming increasingly important as Baghdad works toward bringing all weapons under state control.

🔎 OUR ANALYSIS

For years, the presence of U.S. forces in Iraq has been used by some armed factions as part of the justification for maintaining their weapons, arguing that resistance was necessary as long as foreign forces remained in the country.

But now the situation has changed.

🇺🇸 The U.S.-led coalition mission in Iraq has moved into its new phase, and the justification based on the continued presence of coalition forces is becoming much harder to sustain.

Yet according to the Channel8 report, two armed groups are still refusing to disarm.

That creates a new challenge for the Iraqi government and the Coordination Framework: if the foreign military presence is no longer the central argument, what is the justification for keeping weapons outside full state control?

👀 OUR OBSERVATION

Now we need to watch closely how Al-Zaidi and the Coordination Framework handle this issue.

This is no longer simply about the presence of the United States. It is about Iraq’s sovereignty, the authority of the state, and who ultimately controls weapons inside the country. 🇮🇶

And there is another important dimension.

⚠️ Washington has repeatedly linked Iraq’s financial and banking environment to its ability to control illicit financial flows and prevent sanctioned entities from accessing the international financial system.

If Baghdad cannot resolve the issue of armed factions and their financial networks, there could be consequences for Iraq’s relationship with Washington and the international financial system.

💵 The concern is especially important because Iraq depends heavily on access to the U.S. dollar and the international banking system.

So this issue could become much bigger than simply a political disagreement between Iraqi factions.

🇮🇶 Iraq now faces a critical test:

🔹 Can Baghdad convince the remaining armed groups to accept state authority?

🔹 Can the Coordination Framework reach an internal agreement?

🔹 Can Al-Zaidi help move the process forward?

🔹 And can Iraq resolve the weapons issue without triggering a deeper political or security confrontation?

📌 The U.S. presence can no longer be used as the same justification for maintaining weapons. Now the Iraqi government has to demonstrate that sovereignty means placing ALL weapons under state authority.

💰 For Iraq’s economic future, banking relationships and continued access to international financial markets, this issue deserves very close attention.

🇮🇶 Security, sovereignty and financial reform are increasingly connected.
