🇮🇶 IRAQ’S WEAPONS REGULATION PROCESS CONTINUES: IT ALSO INCLUDES ORDINARY CITIZENS

🔎 Iraq’s nationwide weapons regulation process is ongoing, and it is not limited to armed militias. Between October 2 and 9, the country received 10,222 applications from citizens seeking to register their firearms, according to Major General Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell.

⚖️ The initiative is part of a national government program aimed at regulating firearm ownership and strengthening the authority of the Iraqi state.

🎯 The objective goes beyond militias: civilian firearm owners are also included in the government’s weapons regulation program.

🔴 However, registering weapons does not necessarily mean surrendering them. Disarming armed militias and regulating firearms held by civilians are related but distinct processes.

📌 The key question remains: Can Iraq bring all weapons under state authority, without exceptions?
