🇮🇷🇮🇶 IRAN’S INFLUENCE OVER IRAQI MILITIAS — WHAT DOES THIS REALLY REVEAL?
According to Iraqi political official Abdul Rahman al-Jazairi, Iran has reportedly urged Iraqi armed factions to stop attacks against Saudi Arabia and pursue diplomatic channels instead. 🇮🇷🤝🇸🇦
Reports indicate that IRGC figures conveyed the message to Badr Organization leader Hadi al-Amiri, with groups such as Harakat al-Nujaba, Kata’ib Hezbollah, and factions linked to Abu Ala al-Walai reportedly being urged to avoid military action.
There are also claims of discussions surrounding a possible future U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, potentially connected to guarantees that armed groups place their weapons under state control and stop launching drone operations from Iraqi territory. 🇮🇶🛡️
🔎 BUT HERE IS WHAT I FIND MOST INTERESTING...
Why would Iran have to ask — or instruct — Iraqi militias to stop attacking Saudi Arabia?
That question itself reveals something significant.
If these reports are accurate, it demonstrates that Tehran maintains a powerful channel of influence over some of Iraq’s most prominent Iran-aligned armed factions. 🇮🇷➡️🇮🇶
And this is the key distinction:
🇮🇶 Baghdad asking the militias to stop would demonstrate Iraqi government authority.
But...
🇮🇷 Tehran communicating the message that the militias should stop suggests that Iran still possesses significant leverage over certain armed groups operating inside Iraq.
That raises a much bigger question:
🇮🇶 WHO REALLY HAS THE FINAL WORD OVER THE WEAPONS INSIDE IRAQ?
The Iraqi state — or armed factions with external relationships?
This is why the discussion about placing weapons under state control is so important. If Iraq succeeds in bringing all armed groups under the authority of the state, it would represent a major step toward:
🛡️ Stronger Iraqi sovereignty
🇮🇶 Greater government authority
🕊️ More regional stability
🤝 Better relations with neighboring countries
💼 A stronger environment for investment
📈 Greater economic confidence
The deeper issue is not simply Iran vs. Saudi Arabia or Iran vs. the United States.
The bigger issue is whether Iraq can ultimately control what happens on Iraqi soil.
If Baghdad can establish that the Iraqi state — and not external powers or independent armed factions — has the final authority over weapons and security decisions, that could be a major turning point for Iraq. 🇮🇶🔥
A stronger Iraq begins with a stronger state. 💪🇮🇶
