💱 2️⃣ ADDRESS THE RATE GAP — Bring the official and market rates closer together.
🚫 3️⃣ REDUCE THE PARALLEL MARKET — Remove the distortions and incentives created by the exchange-rate gap.
📈 4️⃣ THEN… A POSSIBLE REVALUATION?
💠MY OPINION: If Iraq first restructures the currency, then closes the exchange-rate gap and strengthens the official market, this could create a much more stable environment for a future adjustment in the dinar’s value.
🔥 NOW I SEE WHY TODAY’S NEWS REPORTED THAT APPROVAL OF THE “DELETE THE ZEROS” LAW WAS POSTPONED!
📊 First, the budget had to move forward.
🔢 Then comes the redenomination.
💱 After that, Iraq can address the exchange-rate gap.
Could the postponement simply be part of the sequence Iraq is following to implement the broader monetary reform?
