The Minister of Finance in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Awat Sheikh Janab, announced on Monday that an agreement has been reached with the federal government in Baghdad that guarantees the salaries of the region’s employees for 2025 are disbursed smoothly and without problems.
Sheikh Janab said, in a press conference followed by “Mawazin News”, that the agreement came after several days of intensive meetings between the regional delegation and the Federal Ministry of Finance, pointing out that “the disbursement of January’s salary will start tomorrow, Tuesday or the day after tomorrow, Wednesday.”
The Kurdistan Regional Government delegation arrived in Baghdad on Thursday and held meetings with various authorities in the Ministry of Finance to discuss outstanding financial issues.
This development comes after the House of Representatives voted yesterday, Sunday, to amend the Federal Budget Law for the years 2023, 2024, 2025, in a move that facilitates the resumption of the export of the region’s oil through SUMO.
It also set the cost of extracting and transporting each barrel of oil from Kurdistan at $16 for 60 days, with a specialized international consultant determining the actual cost of each oil field during this period.
